Issue: Inbox indicator (red dot) displays, indicating new, unread, messages or notifications. Messages is current when compared to the mobile app. System Notifications is current. Notifications is not current. Right now, PC Site is behind mobile app by about 8 notifications.

Expected Behavior: Inbox > Notifications should show the exact same listing of notifications on the PC site as the app displays.

    • Myumara As yansusustories pointed out, it wasn't my intent to imply Fan-Fictions are easy or simplistic. Just to lay a foundation for my argument that they should have separate Power Rankings. From there, I think we should get a set of Power Stones to vote for each category (Translation, Original, Fan-Fiction).

      • The originals section is getting clogged with Fan-Fictions. While Fan-Fictions can be fun, and some of the existing ones are extremely popular, they are not wholly original works. I know this does not hold true for all Fan-Fictions as some use the smallest percentage of the source material.

A fan fiction requires the reader to enjoy the source material the story is based on and then appreciate the direction taken with it but all of the world building, power systems, etc work is already done. This becomes a weighted competition as the originals are building (as an example) a treehouse from scratch, and the Fan-Fictions are taking a pre-fabricated building, piecing it together and making some customizations.

Additionally, allowing energy stones to be used once per story type (Translations, Originals, Fan-Fictions) would be ideal. If you're going to separate their power rankings then it makes little sense that I only have one set of votes between the 2 voting categories.

      • inovade2 Well I refer to Knights and Magic as a business novel because a lot of the focus is built around Eru's ability to design mechs and the company/military unit that is built around that core. There's nearly an equal timeshare between all the background set up as there are the various designs Eru comes up with.

LOTSS is nothing like that. It's a loner's journey, it's an uncovering of the origins of the universe, etc. Now, The Mech Touch is focused on the design concept exclusively. It's basically a shop novel where the shop is a mech production facility. So a lot of the elements of Knights and Magic will be missing since there will be no (currently) squad development, light kingdom building, large-scale mech battles the protag can take place in, etc.

That's all I can think of. If anyone who's familiar with these 3 stories and has corrections or additional information to supply, please do :)

        • Read and reviewed, recommended for anyone who likes post-apocalyptic stories. The setup on this one has the potential to cut down on some of the more annoying tropes found in apoc tales, but we'll see as the story continues to develop.

          • inovade2 Just curious, did you finish catching up to LOTSS? I ask because it seems to be one of the more pure Mech novels. If you want it closer to Knights and Magic though, then you're looking for something more along the lines of a business novel.. in which case The Mech Touch recommended by @MasterRabbink is the only one I know of.

            • BlazingArrow I tried Traffords trading club but I don't think I gave it long enough to really get into it... if I remember, the idea of using "time" as the only real reward to the MC seemed to be uninteresting to me when I was reading it. I'll have to give it another shot, thanks :)

            • MrDojo MRDOJO! :D I've started reading this, really well written, thanks for the recommendation.

            • So turns out I'm really addicted to what I'm calling Shopkeeper System novels (please let me know if they go by something more universal). This includes (but is not limited to):

              Gourmet of Another World
              Gourmet Food Supplier
              Number 1 Dungeon Supplier (Original)
              The Mech Touch (Original)

I'm wondering if anyone knows of other novels that are similar in content to these titles? To restate, I'm simply looking for novels where the focus isn't cultivation for the sake of cultivation, it's running a shop/business/organization utilizing a system to do so. Almost like Kingdom Building but on a micro level.

              • While the site functionality is steadily improving and that's wholly laudable, it'd be really nice if we could see Chapter Count, last update time, and release rate in the search, browse, and power rankings results.

Yes, the argument could be made that users will being to mentally filter out certain titles due to this, but they would be doing that after a single click if their criteria isn't met. For people like myself who are reading nearly 50 ongoing stories and constantly adding more, saving that extra click to find more detail would be highly appreciated (and it should be a relatively simple change code wise).

                • I often listen to webnovel's library via a TTS app on my phone. The issue is, since the app itself doesn't share to TTS, and the webpage doesn't share an authentication token, I can't listen to chapters I've unlocked from the apps.

It's not a huge deal, but it'd certainly be a bit of a value add. My recommendation? Allow for an authentication token to be passed like a One Time Password to other apps to authenticate with the same access the user has. Any unlocked chapters (via spent SS) will be able to be loaded in full by the 3rd party app.

Or you can build in a TTS system like pocket has, but that seems fundamentally more technically difficult.

                  • I appreciate being able to enjoy the original author's attempt at writing a attention grabbing synopsis. That being said, very few of them are a brief summary of what the story is about.

I'd recommend Qidian employ a single person with solid literary skills and assign them to briefly interviewing the translators for: Main character/group names, main setting, brief background (twitter bio size) of main group, and general direction the story takes after the first few chapters. Then use that info to write a clear synopsis.

They could additionally be assigned the task of updating the Tags of each novel they work on.

                    • QI, it's 2017. I shouldn't need to "Authorize App" every time I decide to switch between my pc, laptop, phone, and tablet based on location and battery power. Additionally, this would end the mobile "unread indicator" being useless, as it doesn't track whether or not I've already read something on a different platform. Yet, it seems to know that I've spent spirit stones to unlock a chapter...

I think this would be a great value add to your user base, and would put you in a much better place for when you decide to release a robust announcements system with push notifications.

                    • WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL Glad to hear there are plans but I have to agree with PatriarchExplosion. For fans of the series who already sat through sub-par translations (in terms of "summary mode") and then waited several months as the translator progressively fell from the earth - hearing Soon (TM) is kind of a slap to the face.

I know you can't be held responsible for exact time frames, but within a month, closer to two?
