For the reason :
With the apparition of "fast pass" the chapters of the one novel I'm reading are still now stuck behind a pay-wall and I swore to leave when the website became 100% "pay-walled".

I don't like this type of reviews, however, sometimes, some synopsis are so bad that it irk me just reading them.

Also it's to know if you are judging the story, the translator or the novelty.
Honestly, leaving a review mean to say "Look at what I say/think, I may have some good arguments." 50% of the time it's help you stay clear of annoying novel, 50% other time, it's just a dumb kid/adult who say things like "it's boring !"

What you said seems to be the correct situation but in fact, when you use ss to read then the premium change, the chapter you unlocked before are now locked and cost more ss (or more money).

Subscription is weird. First it's called "elite" like you become better (psychology much ....) than others.
Second, in most place, the quality and the amount would be better.

So in less than one day, four novels I was following just turned premium. Of course, with the usual "previously read chapters shall also become premium".

It sadden me to see that this site is about to die. And the main reason is because sites "free" still exist and are doing well.
How strange that a site whose primary purpose was to share (thanks to translation) the novels .
Then translators allowed the readers to gave them money if they wanted faster release, private picture, etc.

After that was the weirdly mixed "original also deserve a place". Why weird ? because you had to somewhat prove yourself, it wasn't a free place for originality to show itself.
Then someone (either a STUPID MORON or a GENIUS manipulator in finance and psychology) invented the excuse of "we don't have enough money" so TADAA : spirit stone.

Spirit stone is just like when micro-transaction in game don't ask for money but ask for "game currency". You can obtain such currency in the game but in small and controlled amount (not controlled by you but by the game)

Slowly but surely a strange "custom" was created. It was : "if a novel does well then -> premium".
Of course, the ONLY reason for that is, if lot of PEOPLE read then lot of MONEY can be made.

I think, we have officially passed a cap, the premium are majority compared to free access. Of course, I'm talking about novels which are read a "lot".

This website is drowning , hardly keeping his head out of water thanks to the people who like with game (pc, console and mobile) just give money because it's a hobby of them and honestly, as a love-reader myself, I can't judge them badly.
The second reason for people like me to still be here is because some rare novels still are free and have a good grammar, translators/editors who are trying hard and a good story.

As for the daily stones, let's not lie, to compare it to mobile game (multiples comparisons to the current mobiles games isn't a good thing you know ....) these are just like how such game gave you "energy" who take a certain amount of TIME, yes, TIME, not effort or hardship or anything else but time to "regenerate".
Of course, say daily stone/energy" is limited and once again controlled such as to give a teaser, barely enough to gave us content but without really giving free stuff when you compare to the whole limited content.

Soon, this website will maybe give dlc or some kind of reserved forum or novels kind only accessible with money.

I wish I could know who manipulated all of that in the "shadows". Whoever that is is one hell of a good merchandiser. He took something free and with good community and made it into a selling site.

BTW : this is not a rant, or a "Diss" where I hate something and say how bad it is and that we should all raise again it. More like a sad report of an already passed situation.

I really like, this comment ... When you read a book, I don't remember the number of words been in the front or corresponding with the price ( which is from 5 to 25 euros (or $ if you want)) per book.

At first, paying was for those who wanted and advantage like, rather than 1 chapter per week, it would be 2-3 or you get some fanfic, or other stuff.
Now, it is : "Did you enjoy this part of the story ? Well the rest will cost you soul stones" (I particularly like the name souls stones, like it's not real money ⁾

As for that sentence, it's a bit ... naïve or maybe just seeing the best and not the average neither the worst ? A chapter may cost 3-5 souls stones... but it may also cost 11. (I know, it's say that it's according to the number of words, but does it change the final spending ? not at all)
So if you have one (and only one) story you wish to follow without paying you can do it.

The biggest problem is the change in mentality ... It evolved like this :100:
1. Let's share this novel by translating, those who wish for faster release may pay the translator to have some advantage
2.Let's put ad-walls because "the translator works hard you know" (which I agree ok)
3.Let's put some paywall because "the translator doesn't get enough money, and don't forget the person who wrote the novel"
4.Let's slowly make every novel cost money because getting money is good for us and after all it's just like selling book.

So soon, quidian/webnovel/other like it, will become like an online amazon (who already exist by the way, just that it was upfront since the start) : "Pay and get a novel online translated (or not)."
