It seems that lately, you (Qidian) have been jumping the gun on making stories that show any promise of popularity premium before there are even 100 chapters released(ex. The World Turned Into a Game After I Woke Up which didn't even hit
50 chapters before being paywalled), which when considering most novels on here reach over 600 chapters, feels a bit too rushed. How about adding a minimum limit for chapters before forcing premium? maybe 100 or 150 chapters? I understand a need for the paywalls to help keep an income coming in for Qidian, but it gets to the point where it goes from having them to necessitate business, to having them to necessitate greed.

Lun_Kitrane Chinese QI always locks from 100, and that’s the model webnovel is following. Some cases, they lock from Volume 2. Novels that lock earlier might have shorter chapters or might be the request of the author, maybe.

I've heard there already is a minimum limit. It's 200,000 words. Doesn't go by chapters since different books have very large differences in words per chapter.

Sometimes chinese authors may request it. Also munpia is considering a deal with QI which includes making a series premium after 50 chaps.
Did you know that if a hook is properly baited you can catch a lot of fish. The smart ones just swim away.
I stopped giving my powerstones to any new novels just to avoid them going premium, if the novel does not get a super good flying start with massive power stone dump it wont go premium as fast(i hope).
So i dump them all on Red Envelope Group of the Three Realms, since that one has over 500 chapters and still not premium lol.
number of chapters? number of words? What are you thinking? None of the parameters are suitable. This will only lead to more problems. It is better to keep track of the number of regular readers.
I think there is nothing wrong for author to become premium early if he really commit to his/her novel
By becoming a premium you can earn money (this boost your spirit to create more chapter)
You can get an editor (you can save a lot of time editing your chapter)
I think 50.000 word is reasonable (if per chapter contain 500 word that means you need 100 chapter) that's quite a lot for new author
Honestly, I want to know how much watching an ad is worth vs SS. I know some readers would be willing to watch an ad but drop the whole novel when it needs SS. I mean we already have our favorites to spend SS on. Earn more money with ads. It's just stupid if you don't.
Lun_Kitrane the only reason why there are translations with around 800+ unlocked chapters is because they were just recently contracted by QI. This fact would probably infuriate you more. XD
