I find Studio Ghibli and Final Fantasy soundtracks extremely calming and soothing. I like listening to piano, guitar or full soundtrack renditions.

Oh, and lets not forget the Naruto and Bleach soundtracks.

Sometimes I find that listening to music will actually pull me out of the scene I'm trying to write. Say I'm writing an action scene, and Van's ready to beat people up, but the song I'm listening to is so calm and wonderful... I have to find an angrier/faster song so I can get back into my character's perspective.

Recently, I've actually been turning the music off to write. That said, I think that finding the right song could help me find the missing emotions in a scene.

This is a good song for me now.
But I wrote my others chapters with this:

Singer brasilian. This singer is very good!

Woo. Thought I was alone there for a second. Lol.

I've tried listening to music while writing before. I found it to be distracting. Also, if I listened to the wrong music, it negatively affected the scene. Such as listening to upbeat music during a character death scene. No music for me when I write now.

Gentlemen. There is a solution here none of us are seeing. We must simply convert our keyboards into musical instruments. They shall play the music as we type our stories. AI machine learning will change the music tempo/theme as we write dark scenes, love scenes, humorous scenes, etc.

Last one. A very dark music.

I don't really listen to music when writing, as mentioned earlier. However, I listen to it when coding or playing video games. I also occasionally listen to or think of certain songs when writing certain scenes. I typically jump back and forth between weeb music (Amalee) and rock music (Nothing More, Three Days Grace, Every other mainstream rockband).

My favorite Amalee song is a cover of the Saga of Tanya the Evil opening. I especially enjoy listening to it when playing shooters or right before diving into the head of my psycho MC.

My favorite Nothing More song (and probably overall favorite song ever) is probably Fadein/Fadeout. It doesn't really fit well with my MC, but I often thought of this song when writing volume1 of Steampunk Apocalypse!.
