It would be great if there was an option to search by tags so that I can actually just search the kind of novel elements I want (ex: evil protagonist, kingdom build etc)

Lord_of_Winter on the site there is that ability, but it must be one tag at a time...
Just type webnovel.com/tag/list?tagName=
followed by the tag (replace spaces with "20%").;,;.

Lord_of_Winter I don't know Novelupdates... but I'm sure I understand... you mean search using multiple tags at the same time, right?
DeJeL Kinda like that, yeah. But on novelupdates, you can even exclude the tags you DON'T want to come up in the search results along with what you searched for.
Lord_of_Winter Yah, that'd be nice.;,;. but I don't think Webnovel cares enough to do it :( If they do, I guarantee that they will get more money due to more readers finding novels they actually wanna read.;,;.
