1. You could send them a dmca notice to request taking it down. As a notorious pirate site they probably won't listen.
2. I think I read on forums once that Skully once mentioned that instead of sending dmca requests to pirate sites, he requested they include a link to his patreon in the description, and some agreed to do it. Of course, Skully never planned on getting contracted, so that may affect things.

Aparently they just pirated mine too. Maybe they're jumping on popular originals now? Or maybe someone likes our novels specifically and did it? Your novel and mine are in a somewhat similar niche genre.
On that note, I'm a bit flattered my novel has been pirated. On another note, I feel very insulted they spelt the title wrong while doing so. -_- They spelt Steampunk Apocalypse! as Steampunk Apocaly.

SnoozySloth Yeah I just sent them an email, but have no hope of them doing anything. It makes me want to stop publishing on webnovel and move entirely to Patreon. I am a bit flattered too, but feel really hurt that they would do this.

Tonight, part of me thought about erasing all my chapters on webnovel, swapping them all over to Patreon, and reporting the chapters as 'wrong' on their website. Makes me wonder if they would change their chapters to my "newly edited" chapters.

I'm not contracted, so I don't have the webnovel backing that you do. sad face The fact that they stole my chapters from me hurts though. I started writing to improve, so either way it doesn't matter to me if I improve on this website or another. I figure if people really like the story, they are free to follow my Patreon since I put the daily chapters on there for free as well.

For you though, it is a matter of money for you! I hope they hop on this problem...

BabyTanuki Do not be discouraged since they are hosting a pirate site and are publishing webnovel works, the site will do something about it.

I will try to see what I can do in my end, going to talk to one of the staff. Hope you don't stop writing because of this. :)

BabyTanuki No prob I really come to like your work, after reviewing it that one time. It's what I read when get a bit irritated at the haters, for some reason your work, and Hidan no aria seem to calm me down when reread them, so I really hate for you to remove your work here.

BabyTanuki Also got to warn you some of the pirate sites, that webnovel try to remove simply stop updating but what they had uploaded somehow stays. The piraters most probably just left their work hanging there. Let's see what happens with this one.

Yeah, I wouldn't get anybody's hopes up on it getting taken down. That pirate sites been around a long time. But anybody going there knows what it is beforehand. In other words, their not really readers that generally support authors on their original platforms in the first place. I wouldn't worry about it too much. The people going to that site aren't likely the type to drop money on novels in the first place. So I don't really view it as a loss.

Like others have already said :
1. ask for a link towards your patreon since you are not - yet - contracted,
2. in the future, if you are contracted, WN will surely do something about it.

I have a suggestion to that problem. Its to implement an option when a user gonna read a chapter of a novel the content get block to not allow copy. When a copy master want to copy will be very hard coz he/she will have a very hard time copy. This feature is in inkspired

i dunno what to say: its getting costlier here so many such websites will popup. If you authors try to get Qi to lower the prices, everyone will come here and you will have a moral ground to close other sites. Not all people in the world are rich enough to spend money on novels.

I absolutely agree with what you are saying. I always intended to make my novel free for everyone while I was writing it. Even as I get ready to possibly move the whole thing over to Patreon, I'm still publishing my main novel's chapters for free on Patreon for people to enjoy.

The way I see it, the chapters I publish daily are still rough and unfinished. Of course, I edit them as much as I can, but I know it has a way to go. I always intended to refuse any contract that Webnovel would offer me because I disagree with spending so much for you guys to read a book and would prefer to keep my rights to my book. I was a reader too before I became an author and always thought the price for stones was ridiculous!

Poche That would be wonderful if they would do that! I mean, the method won't stop everyone, but for someone like me who is just an uncontracted author, I doubt they would bother spending time pirating it.

CrazyTree Ahh good point. Many readers are English second language here. Funny moment on my end... While I was reading your part about highlighting words as you read, I was doing so myself. LOL

Yeah, you see. I didn't mean to dishearten you, but nothing you can do will be effective. Actually going to patreon won't be too, if they really want to pirate your work, copying from patreon is the same.

The most you can do (and in my opinion, it is the way to go about it) is to find a way for those who are reading from pirate sites to come to real you.
Unlike SnoozySloth is saying, unfortunately, not everyone there knows that it's a pirating site. (When I was younger I was there a lot because they pop up first on search engines, and I didn't know all that complicated stuff about pirating when I was 13 or 14.) Many people who only read and don't know hardships of being an author can be deceived. They might even think that they are supporting the real author.
It is sad, but it is the truth.

So, be strong.
And as you can't really destroy them, find a way to use them. Or ignore them. As SnoozySloth says, they won't bring you money anyway, so why worry about them))

Probably wouldn't work anyways. I'm pretty sure it's just a bot grabbing the plain text of the chapters from the HTML code. Pirates will always find a way to get their hands on things. The best prevention method is making content easily available so that people don't sail the high seas. For example, Netflix really helped kill a lot of pirating. On the flip side, there are plenty of people that pirate video games because DRM can make it difficult for real buyers to even enjoy the game properly.
