Well.. sounds a bit too far fetched.. if he's just a regular soldier, even if special ops, he barely has any power to change the grander scale of things. Also it doesn't sound like something a normal person would think about (change the war). Just seems like the story would be full of plot armor to get everything going the right way.

The second is.. german experiment+soul travel+ww2.. just too far fetched for me.

If it's in our world, why not settle with a "dream"? He dreamed of things all the way to his death, then woke up. Why was the dream so long and why did everything look so real? Was it a coincidence all these deja vu moments that are happening? - a lot of questions but that would be easier to digest than the german experiment thing.

Then the goal.. maybe make it more humble? Try to save some of his friends who died? If the course of the war is somehow altered as a result, sure, but that shouldn't be an idea from the mc - he's a soldier, should be close to reality.

Then again, i'm not a big fan of these kind of novels, so take what i said with a grain of salt.

Everything you've said makes sense, but let us consider for a moment other novels/games that took an inventive take on WWII, such as Wolfenstein. Would you not agree that Wolfenstein is a good example of this kind of thing? The world lost the war in Wolfenstein as a result of German science and ingenuity making more advanced guns and equipment. Why would such an experiment be unfeasible/far-fetched? The Germans had many weird experiments that were really far-fetched. Hitler literally wanted to send a giant mirror into space that he could control to use the power of the sun to burn his enemies away. True stuff you can look it up. They made a cannon that uses pressurized air to shoot down planes, but it was only accurate up to 300ft. So why not a German experiment on souls and time travel? I'm not shooting you down, but I am counter-arguing. Also, yes, Thomas is just a soldier, but soldiers can get promoted and he can use what he already knows and has learned can he not? Though the novel was originally heading that way, it took a turn for the stranger. It's actually turned out pretty good so far.

Yes i'm aware of the crazy german experiments that did happen. In fact was it not for cracking their secret code (google enigma) the allies would have most likely lost the war. German science achievements are nothing to scoff at.

But, it still sounds too far fatched, just too random for our world. Germans did an experiment somewhere and as a result a random soldier on a battlefield travelled through time. I just can't buy into it. I could go with it if it was based on some other world where magic exists or people are different.

Then the part with soldier getting promotions etc, not saying impossible(even if far fetched), just saying "i'll change the war" is not something a real person would think of..

What if the thought "change the war" doesn't come from him then? If that's too farfetched, it could just be an order imposed upon him, and he'd struggle with it, at least at first. Not sure how you could craft that given the material you already have. Up to you :)

Also, this reminds me of Stephen King's 11/22/63, so if it's based on the premise, I'll be interested

Well.... It's more of a 50/50 kind of thing.
It's seems promising, and I am rather interested in stories portraying war, but it seems farfetched.
Now, I'm not saying that I wouldn't read this, but I'm sure that other people who would point out the, how do I say this? The whole concept of an experiment exploding, causing a force strong enough to do the impossible; taking the most mysterious part of us, the soul, and wrenching it through space and time. Something we (those high class scientists) are still experimenting on as we speak using old tech is...... er ...

Then there's the personality of the mc. Who, let's say, is a normal guy enlisted into the army. A very patriotic guy. But he dies. Then reincarnates. And the first thing he thinks of is 'I'll change the War for the Better,' which, if you think about it, could actually be plausible, depending on the level of loyalty (Patriotism) the mc feels towards his home country. So... higher chance Ill read it.

Finally, the last thing that would stop me from reading this would be if, say, he changes something for the better, such as stopping the Japanese from bombing Pearl harbour before they can even come close, which, in turn, would cause US to not join the war (High chance), thus the Allies having lower chances of winning with the US still producing fridges. So basically, here, I'm more dubious if the mc would think things out before acting, such as letting specific (good people) die so that certain events in the will go as planned, or if he's the stereotypical righteous protagonist who wants to save everyone.

Also, please note that I focus more on the plot and any plot holes out there than anything else in stories so that might affect it a bit, as I have actual historical records which would help me on trying to calculate the possibility of things supposed to go downhill if and when real people change something suddenly have no consequences when mc does it in your story.

Hey, that's pretty good analysis, fret not, he doesn't stop Pearl Harbor from happening, he has his own problems to deal with. Consequences of being pulled back through time which I casually explain through pseudo-science.

Hokobishu i will read it but not with an expectation, while i disagree the idea of german scientist experimented on human soul too far fetched and not realistic, well that's why they call it a fiction. And i much like the idea of a general or officer being the one who got the chance to repair back the war not some grunt, granted if he will climb the rank and got promotion since when that happen he would have the power to change the whole theater.

And i much more like the concept in 'battle of the third reich'. Where the preperiator of the war who got the chance instead, in this one case the german. And i also would love the idea of a system concept, since it makes the story more easier, plus it's the day where self-fullfillment novel roam.
