AzureWolf Don't be fooled by rhetoric of others as it is in their interests to put Webnovel down.
Notice how only the licensed books were taken? Why aren't highly popular novels like Martial World, The Charm of Soul Pets, Rebirth of the Thief Who Roamed the World, etc not 'stolen'? By your logic, they can just wrestle their way through simply because of their copyright of the original source.
It's because it was totally in their right to do so.
Again, just because 'copyright' is important, doesn't mean that the copyright is commercially valuable. If it's not valuable, no one will spend money developing it (ie, continuing the story for the author, etc). And if it's valuable, the author is the golden goose; there's no reason to milk a story when a new story might do even better.
So to call it a slave contract when many people are happy to sign it, especially when none of them suffer any of the negative clauses is moot. It's there to protect a company; that's what the legal department is there for. Whether it is enforced (and it isn't) or whether the company bothers to enforce it is another issue.
