Magical realism is SUPPOSED to mean "Our reality, our time, our culture, but with magic added"

Fantasy is SUPPOSED to mean "Another Reality, other cultures, different rules and lands, probably has magic"

...As you can no doubt imagine, most people on this site don't respect these distinctions and blur the lines like crazy.

You could, in theory, make the argument for Harry Potter being on the extreme end of "Magical Realism", while something like Lord of the Rings is "Fantasy", so to speak.

        ...Dude.

        Holy shit.

This is... leaps and bounds better than any of your other work.

I am very, very impressed with the improvement. Like, seriously.

          Thanks!
I thought to injecting more environmental details, would add to the story.

I also am trying to get rid of telling, for now, the saying "thinks/thoughts" is my target =]

It shows. The writing is significantly more active and engaging as a result. Well done, my dude! Consider me very proud!

I think the lines get blurred a lot with the categories. I put my novel in the horror category, but in hindsight it probably fits better in fantasy. I like the tag system and think it's more accurate. Especially since most novels on this site are going to at least somewhat fit in the fantasy genre.
