Would you rather have it so that the chapters are super short, ie 300-700 words per chapter, or a bit long, ie 1000+ words per chapter. The short chapters have a higher release rate, but they are mostly fillers. The long chapters have more substance but take longer to write.

FluffyKiller When I write, I write 800-100 words on average to try and balance the two. However you should write in the style that is best for you.

    wow? 1000+ is long?
    Then what about 2000+, 5000+?
I consider anything under 2000 as a short chapter.
    And 300 words... a nonexistent?

just for reference, most of the novels on WN have a price of 8-15 SS per chapter. That's what is average (not too long or too short)
according to the price of 1 SS to 200 words we get from 1600 to 3000 words. Average. Longer chapters are like 20-26 SS, which will be 4000-5000+ words.
    Just statistics.

Why would longer chapters have less filler?

Id rather have no filler personaly

I think it depends on the genre you're writing. Romance / slice of life novels, things set in modern day can get away with shorter chapters.
Fantasy, sci-fi or action heavy novels need longer chapters for proper world building and descriptions. Otherwise it will be really frustrating to read.

I've always averaged 2400 to 2500 with most my chapters falling between 2200 to 2800.
On my next book I think I might drop down to the 1600-2000 range and just release more chapters. If a chapter needs to go longer, you can always do it in parts.
I would't recommend going too short if its a fantasy or scifi novel. I think romance typically does well with short chapters though.

As a reader, as long as the chapter is meaty, any length is fine. However, if the story is ongoing and I could only have one or two a day, I want the chapters to be long. If they're short, I might wait until there's more before reading.
