i noticed today that the cover art for MMORPG: The Almighty Ring and King Of Gods are pretty much the same image but with different backgrounds. Now i would think that an author would want his cover to be something original, not some recycled image from another author. I dont know which novel came first in the grand scheme of things but it seems a bit tacty. Am i wrong for thinking this?
are covers being recycled?
Huh... I just realized that too. Weird. But eh, I don't think it's wrong to question it.
Welp idk about that but there a lot same background in Webnovel novel. Like pet king and three red paket server. There a lot more if u looking for it(i forgot the tittle novel cause a lot) I think maybe there were create by same side (Webnovel).
DesolateAvenger I don’t know about Webnovel’s contracted stories, but i can say for mine (original, not contracted) that I used a background image that has a public domain copyright (in other words anybody can use that image for almost anything). But by doing so, other people may have also found that same image, and because there aren’t many public domain images (beacause most people don’t like giving things such loose copyright), it results in it being somewhat common that someone else would choose that same image. I have seen one other story using the same background as mine.
Reckeva I thought about that after I made the post. It makes sense. I only hope that the cover arts don’t become like most most of the plot lines on here. Lol
From what I can tell, QI has a separate system of 'covers' that doesn't apply to the books themselves if they were translated on other sites or the actual covers the raws have. Like, if you looked up one of these books on NovelUpdates, almost none of the covers match what's displayed on this site.
My guess is that their 'cover' team just has a bunch of stock images that they can choose from and just reuse when they feel lazy, or just straight-up use the CN cover and add English text over it
They have a library of stock images that they use, together with color effects, font effects, filters to produce covers. However, there are just so many books that it's inevitable some covers are used again, especially when the people creating the covers are not necessarily the same person for originals and translations.
