J_Tyler Huh, now you make me curious. I'm always up for a recommendation from others.
Also, I would like to review swap with you, but I wonder whether my stories which have psychological elements will help distract you. At least, the world details should be enough to swamp you. :p
Then again, those psychological elements have yet to completely rise up and are mostly allusions, but a heads up just in case since I haven't seen many stories that touch on psychological stuff. I only mention this because I know secondhand from someone who's served in Afghanistan about what certain themes in a story can do them--I was in a history class which centers on the World Wars, Vietnam, etc. (Of course, everyone's experiences are different, so this could very well be needless concern). Very good guy btw, and thank you also for your service.
If you are interested, I would rather the review on this story: https://www.webnovel.com/book/13352833706581805/RE%3A-Life-as-a-Tree
That one starts out dramatically/darkly but quickly turns into something lighter. If that isn't your cup of tea (the contest prompt IS unusual), I'm always up for a second opinion on this story where more is alluded to rather than being direct.
