So my friend hooked me up with the recruitment since I am bilingual (Korean and English) and I was looking for a job before I become a senior in Highschool; I wanted to become economically independent from my parents and to prove that I can do something by myself in my life.
The reason why I'm starting this discussion is that I didn't really get to take the test since there was no test given in Korean <-> English, and I don't know who or how to contact for later questions regarding the employment status. I'm thinking of waiting for about 3 days (I sent the resume like an hour ago) to get a reply back.
While waiting for the results nervously, I would like to hear your experience as translators: What was your reason to get that job? How did you get your job? And how are the working conditions?

I don't know about Korean>English translators, but IINM all Chinese>English translators will be assigned to one of the translation studios once they pass webnovel's test. Problem is, each translation studio actually has their own rates, ie. some studios pay better than the others, so it actually makes more sense to ask around to make sure you haven't been assigned to one of the lower paying studios.
Webnovel doesn't actually tell you there are other studios to choose from when they assign you to a studio -- they probably don't think it's worth the hassle -- so make sure to ask around!
Also, webnovel is extremely slow at responding. I think the average wait time is around 1-2 months. Probably best to just forget about your application for now and wait to be "pleasantly surprised" when the reply finally comes...
General translation advice: try to pick a novel you're actually interested in. You'll burn out very quickly if you don't actually like the writing or the plot. It doesn't feel like work if you enjoy the novel, but if you can't stand the writing, every minute spent translating it will feel like pure torture. >_>;;

Phew... 1 ~ 2 months : ( that's a bit harsh. I guess I would need to try to get another job while waiting for it.
LeisurelyOwl Please translate King Shura if you do end up becoming a translator, Ensj translated a little less than half of the novel and dropped it 2 years ago because of the pay wall. It still remains one of my top two favorite Korean novels
Laoshi I'll see if I can get the book first : ) I've never read that book before but I heard some good stuff about it, so I may be working on it as soon as Summer break begins. If you have a .txt version or pdf version of that book (maybe in Korean), hook me up with it. Even if I don't get the translator spot, it will benefit me in other ways (perhaps it might get me a translation job XD).

LeisurelyOwl I don’t have it in .txt or pdf but I believe it’s on munpia which Webnovel has a contract with to be able to translate or another online Korean webnovel site
LeisurelyOwl Even if you don’t get the job here don’t give up, it’s always been my dream to become a translator but I don’t know where to start learning a language since here in the US the only languages taught widely and cheaply are English and Spanish.
