I wanted this happen too. But there are a lot of issue's QI has to consider in doing so.
Quality vs Quantity. ---They have to decide between this. WW model is pure quality like a brand in which you can trust the novels in it has a certain quality and readable. QI model currently is similar as they are also focusing on Quality content translations as translations cost them money. But if they implement the Father Qidian model then it will be like RRl or wattpad in which you don't trust the new novels are good and only try reading it if you have time. This means ton of novels to pick from and some even get abandoned or ignored.
Small community. ---The community here is not big and it cannot sustain the cost of living of most writers unless they are pro level. Even pro level writers may not make that much money compared to their Chinese counterparts. So we cannot support or read most of the stories.
Money (pay per chapter)----This is the troublesome part.---EVERYONE WANTS FAST RELEASE AND MOST DON"T WANT TO PAY FOR IT. If you want quality writers then there should be a quality market and demand here so that they are willing to spend ample time on the story.
Creativity vs Translation -----Translations are hard. No doubt but they have to work hard. But they have a database or foundation they can translate on and use their language creativity. On the other hand the poor original content writers gets nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing unless they are good at writing an entire new story that can keep the readers engaged and want them to pay. This is 10x+ harder to get an income.
You can even see this difficulty in amount of reward money offered by QI in the competition. The 1st price translator can get a contract of $50,000 while the first price original content writer can only get a $20,000 contract.
So based on the current actions of QI, I assume they are only aiming for quality writers through the competition unlike anyone can post their stories here model.
