The10thCrow Good conversation subject! I've always been interested in AI and the stuff of "science fiction." Currently I'm working in an AI company, so as Laptopboy is saying, I think that as technology progresses, we come to accept more. On one hand it can be seen as dangerous as well as beneficial.
The question right off the bat reminds me of a K-drama I watched some time back when it aired. It was about loving an AI robot who was kinder than the real person it was based off of. Tbh I'm not sure that we'll ever get to a point where we can consider an AI a "human" that feels real emotion and pain. It's simulated. Of course, science crosses over into religion considering what is a soul? Does a soul make a human, a human?
Looking at the world now and my own personal opinion and experience, I think that "fiction" (the AI) can be more appealing than a real person. Just like loving a fictional character from a movie, animation, or story, a more "perfect" AI or one that is specifically geared to one's taste will feel like the "Mr. Right or Mrs. Right" that one has always dreamed of. It might be easy to fall for something like that. In the end, it depends on the individual and their inner strength and philosophy. If it was me, I can imagine liking that 'perfect AI man' perhaps down to the personality and appearance (if it can get that sophisticated), but a part of me deep down will always be disappointed that something's missing. Can our 'souls' truly connect as 'soulmates'?
On the other hand, maybe it'll help with population boom. XD But then I wonder if love will be lost if children (which i would imagine by then) could be genetically modified. How will classic definitions change with time? Just as what makes up a family changes with ages, how will family, love, friendship, attraction, etc. evolve? I'm going off on a tangent, but this kind of talk always makes me think of more beyond the starter topic. XD
