I've grown attached to my characters, which makes me feel bad when drama happens to them. Though in a way, empathizing with them makes me feel the moment and pass on how the characters feel into words.
My Poor Characters
You're not the only one. I'm evil enough to let my MC die as a single man in his first life. 
I mean, the MC in my current novel died a virgin when he was beheaded in a fiery car explosion.
But that wasnt horrifying. It was hilarious.

Hm. I like to start at my characters childhoods so there is always the chance they die before they achieve anything in life. Hehe

I did joke once about killing off my MC and turning him into a Panda. I still think I should do that as an April Fools sidestory chapter.
kazesenken I remember a translator did something similar for a BL manga. They translated the entire conversations using love songs and BL clichés for an April's fools. I was reading and wondering what the hell was going on until they had a panel that basically said we got you.
No kidding 
in my story I wrote that my FL was sexually molested when she was a child...by her adoptive father. I felt like crying and so disgusted writing the scene 
God knows how badly I wanted to end it.
