Before everyone starts throwing eggs in my direction I want to say that the latest update is rather good from the business' perspective.
1) WN set the rule that premium chapter can't be less then 1000 words (so the cost will be 6coins+)
2) WN removed free coins and added fast pass.

So the outcome will be:
1) If you want to read the novel fast, you will have to buy the coins anyway, it means the authors will get more income so as WN.
-> 2) Readers will be strict in their views towards the works because no one will spend money on the novel that doesn't deserve that. If you don't like the plot or writing quality enough to pay for it you will just drop it.
-> 3) The writer will have to offer works of the better quality otherwise their novels will be dropped before the first locked chapter

So, in the end, it's a win-win situation for all parties.

Those, who are not ready to pay, they will not pay anyway, so it will be more profitable to have 500k users who spend their money for buying coins then 5M users who doesn't want to spend a dime.

We still have 3 fast passes a day and it's much more then other servises offer. I have Lezhin and Tappytoon and they don't give free coins at all (unfortunately 😂)

The only thing I honestly suggest to give us back is 50ss reward for all-week sign-in. It will be a great combination with 3 fast passes a day and 50coins once a week.

    ye well those who dont pay are still needed because of the ad revenue .And i can tell you i pay quite abit to read and quite often but im still pissed off at this shitty update because fast passes are useless. Im supporting them as it is and they slap my face with this shit .You can only open 3 chapters a day with fast pass while when it was in ss i could do up to 5 cuz all bonuses combined were depending on luck up to 25 ss . I like the little rewards and dislike stingy companies very much. As for those who dont pay .

    Yes authors will be hard pressed to offer could quality and translators , good translations because i have seen some horrible stuff. On this i 100% agree there is potential.

    I agree that readers will be stricter too and yes in the end those who want to read will buy anyways.

    But seriously i like little gestures when i spend money and the free spirit stones were a nice gesture and helped me supplement my stones a little . this pass thing is shit

    I know im just 1 guy , and this is my opinion too which other may not share or agree with , i also know these shit heads from webnovel dont listen or do shit ever , But on the off chance i just want to say webnovel you are on thin ice with me.

      First of all, please allow me to break it to you that most popular novels are not directly written on webnovel. 90% of the top novels are translated. The quality will not be influenced by the reception of this app.

      I used to read only one novel, and I had to pay for the premium chapters.
      I earned about 1000SS per month with daily activities.
      I had to spent 1000SS to access to premium chapters and 900SS to unlock the individual chapters.
      This means I have to buy around 900SS per month which is around €21,-

      Now:
      I have to buy 1900SS (aka gold) which is €42,- per month.

      How is this a win-win? Nobody should be willing to pay €42,- to read a single webnovel.

      I respect your opinion and I do understand all the frustrations, but I just wanna throw this here:

      Ads per click and view (no follow-up actions by users) generate 0.2-0.5 SS each, and the free SS given to the users to watch one ad was 5 SS. So, WN didn't actually gain a lot from the ads that people click and watch unless these people actually did a follow-up action that benefits the advertisers directly after watching those ads (e.g. download the advertised app). But not many people did that if any at all. I know I never did.

      And if you want to understand it in real money:

      CKtalon Ads pay very little. A very high CPM (cost per 1000 impressions) is about US$10. It's closer to $2-5 CPM. So that's less than 1 cent every view. Authors won't be making enough based on ads alone.

              Fast pass is basically useless. They basically used it to decrease the number of chapters free users could consume to 3 chapters per day regardless of length. Remember Female Protagonist November usually costed about 4-6 SS.

              They also don’t work with privilege chapters.

              and unlike those two, webnovel is pretty lenient. i can't find other copies for those two at all.
