Am i the only one that is sick from all those DxD, naruto, Harry Potter, One Piece,... storys? I can understand that the Original storys were interesting but its just to much with those fanfictions. If you would delete them, than there were nearly nothing left anymore. Next prolem most of those storys get dropped or are just discontinued. Why even start writing something if u wont finish it either way? There are so many universes that u could use with endless possibilitys. Like Warcraft, Starcraft, the dwarves series, Stargate, the Heroes series and so on. There are so many things that Authors could use but they still use the same boring c r a p.

Ok that is enough ranting for now.

I hope that im not alone with thinking that.
Pls comment here if u think like me too.
Eventually this discussion can get big enough, that we get the attention from some Authors and hopefully some worthwhile fanfictions. :)

My only fanfic on this site is based on a story no one reads anymore. XD I'm not good with fan fiction, but gave it a shot.

Adding: I think fan fiction promotion is kind of the same as original fiction here. Webnovel caters to trending fads.

I wrote Tales of Demons and Gods Fanfic.
      Here are my reasons.
-Loved the world, first crush all that stuff.
-Wanted to gain popularity and experience as a writer before doing an original Both worked until ban :D)
-Around hundreds of other ideas and wants to fix some of the stuff in the original.
For me, it was the passion I had for the universe and the simplicity of doing one.
Though I love the world I made in my original there are still times I wonder how it would be to continue writing TDG.

f1n why u dont just do it? Just say in the beginning that u only will update sporadically like one time each week. For the real fans of your story it will be enough.

Currently, that is way too much. Even that.
And more importantly, I don't want to it since cheese pizza.
Even more importantly there is the fact that the older novel was made also for myself to see the world more clearly so writing a new one isn't the thing for me.
Fanfics are fun to do, but... At the end of the day they aren't real novels, they are just re-imaginations of the person who wants to see something happen in them. Like me wanting to cuck Nie Li from everything.

f1n well its not entirly true. Fanfiction is for me not only following the plot its the usage of the world and its System. Its still fanfiction even if the real mc is just a sidecharacter like let your oc begin on a never mentioned continent. There u can do your own storyline with new invented characters. At some point u can let the story of your oc converge with the mc's story. In what way is your decision too. How to continue from there is for u free to decide. U can let it be just a meeting, helping or destroying him. Its your story from than on and something like a combination of an original story and fanfiction.

At least that is my opinion.

A little push here. I hope some people would like to chat about the theme here.

I subscribe to the "Be the change you want to see" school of thought. :) It’s easy to want, and even to come up with ideas. Creating good quality fanfic takes time and a lot of effort on the author's part.

There’s a wider range of choices on FF.net and AO3, and some very good content as well.

Thing about fanfiction is they target popular names, just the way of it. If there were more fan fictions for niche interests they wouldn't be niche.

As WhenButterFlies mentions, if tired of the same be the one to change things up. Take my book TIK, I read one short book on here about kobolds, it's the only book dedicated to that topic at the time. So I wrote my own, seems to be working out well thus far. I'm enjoying the story, others are enjoying the story and the number of kobold related books has risen by one. 😎

I agree with Op sentiment here, there's a great number of series that had a good potential becoming a fanfic. Instead it always the same naruto, dxd, marvel, or harry potter. But, I noticed a few stereotypes and pattern in popular fanfiction in here that some of the author is aiming for that cold hard cash of patreon, and churning whatever series of fanfiction that's very popular here.

Florian1990 There's always fanfiction.net. There's a shit ton of fanfiction there, even for works I never knew existed.

Well updates on ff are a bit inconsistent. At least for the storys im interested in. Ao3 doesnt ring a bell for me. Well as for writing my own story, i wont have time for it. To much things to play, social life, girlfriend, work, read and some other stuff. xD
My life is already hectic enough for me. xD
