ludo2776 His/Her pseudo is A of Artificial and I of Intelligence. AI380. The book is WAR-Destiny of future with a cover that has two stick figures. One saying huggu, the other saying nope.

AI380 one of the best authors on here uses homedrawn stickmen for his cover, so no need to feel embarrassed. Back in the day, I also used stickmen for cover. And there are many others as well. Tbh, I would prefer a book with a stickman cover over some lecherous or bland cover. Also, your cover look pretty good. Shows you are a person of culture as well.

Hey, we've all got different writing style. That's what makes reading more interesting.

AI380 It's okay no need to sweat it, there are authors in here just like you, including me who only finds inspiration in the writing shorter chapters, the use of less complex term and expression that are not considered deep enough. Don't let what others say pressure you, continue to do what makes you happy👌❤

Everyone has their own of writing, there's no need to do what others do. As long as it works for you and you know you create a good story, you shouldnt worry too much about others.
I just bullshit my way through my chapters and have a weird writing style but i dont mind so lol

But i think in your case a beatsheet or stepoutline would help especially when you need a lot of time to write two short chapters

      What’s a writing style? ∠( ᐛ > ∠)_

I just write whatever’s in my head. Who cares about the readers! As long as you’re satisfied with what you wrote, it’s all fine and dandy~ ╮(╯▽╰)╭

AI380 damn i relate so much in everything you just said. I feel kinda bad though because I tend to miss updates but for the life of me i can't write as fast or produce chapters as fast as a normal writer. Though, I made it a goal to write at least 1k words per chapter since thats an acceptable length for me (not too short and not too long) and the way i write is the way it flows in my mind so it's pretty much free writing with a little editing from grammarly.... 😅

I can't and would not write more than two chapters in a week.

Speaking honestly, you CAN, but you have to want to, and it takes practice and discipline, as well as proper planning. Writing is a skill that develops with effort. The harder you push yourself, the more you will progress.

Now, it sounds like you are also including editing and re-writing as part of this process as well. Personally, I recommend keeping the writing and revising processes entirely separate, and only revise once you're completely finished with a work. Not only does this save you from a lot of unneeded edits, but switching between writing and editing over and over as you work on a chapter actually severely hampers your ability to produce work quickly. Its better to write out an entire draft, then do all revisions, rather than tweak as you go.

          Short Chapters

Chapter length on here is not the same as chapter length in a real book. Having written in multiple formats, I personally find it much more efficient to break large chapters into 600-800 word chunks for chapters on here because that generates more exposure. There is nothing wrong with shorter chapters, so long as the frequency is high.

Now, you said you can only do 1-2 chapters a week. Are these chapters 700 words long? Because if so, that's 1400 words a week. That is, and I mean absolutely no offense by this, not a good writing speed. You should easily be able to hit 3500 words a week, if you write every day. If you don't mind me asking, what is your typical writing procedure? I might be able to help you find out how to improve your output.

I like to use simple and common words

Having a simple style is fine. Plenty of successful authors have done well with simple writing. Denigrating authors who use more complex language, however, is not cool.

Classic literature books are novels. Modern novels are novels. Web serials are novels. There is no difference, aside from personal taste. Hell, the classic literature of today was sometimes considered the simple, light writing of yesterday.

          My grammar is not perfect.

No one is expecting it to be. However, it is expected of a writer that they are perpetually trying to improve their grasp on it, especially if English is not their first language.

Clowniac I think you are having some misunderstanding here. I have absolutely no problem to write fast and long, my best record is 5k+ in 3 days, including re reading, correction, picture illustrations (which is not required here). So I don't think that's the major problem. And I think my example above is somewhat misleading, I usually try to maintain it at at least 1k words if possible. Although some of my chapters are quite short that I wouldn't really call it as a chapter.

Why can't I write everyday? I blame my brain, it refused to give out fresh new ideas every single day, even with a whole list of draft, it will be like. "What should I do with this?".

As for grammar, I always realised that is my biggest problem and is working hard to improve it.

While for the common/complex words, everyone have their own preferences. I don't like it doesn't mean you'll not like it as well right?

I apologise if anything in my first post sounds offensive to you. And thanks for your suggestion.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, DO I GET PAID? NO! So why should I force myself to write every day? I have my own life instead of just writing. Writing is my hobby instead carrier. Like even if your hobby is play sports, will you do it every day, every hour?

AI380 Wow, your novel shows 46 chaps a week. if you can't write fast, you should really hold the chapters and release steadily. As you said, you're not a profession and aren't getting paid. There's no need to hurry. Steady release will give you more exposure.

Demonic_angel actually I regret about that as well, I'm quite new to this place, so I have no ideas how things work. I never thought about that before until I realised some people here actually release new chapter everyday.

But since I already released it, there's no turning back. The only thing I can do is to release chapter every week on a fixed time, which I have been doing for a long time.

                3. Nah, although some of the authors try to be classy and go over the top, I think you might confuse authors using rare words and those authors who uses them because its the most precise word they can give. It would take about several common words to describe one rare word, its quite common on new authors actually, and reading those would only turn the narrative flat and weightless. I actually prefer the author has a writing style that is reflexive, those that uses imagery, it might be read as over the top but I think its better than flat lines that were only as dry as brick wall. Well everyone has their own writing style but Im just pointing out my preference, reading a novel that was written dryly will get boring over several pages.
