Greetings!
So recently, I started a story about a character that will embark on a journey in finding out and discovering different kinds of swords and what they can do in life or even combat.

So, just to ask for your wildest imaginations, what do you think are the most awesome and not cliched types of swords and their powers? (Don't worry I already wrote some good sword types in my memory but I am trying to figure out what good concepts of swords can people create.)

    Arthy_Pen well.. for me, I don't really like a great sword. It's cool but like I'm saying.. I'm not a fan of it.(Great sword is for someone with strong upper body to lift and swing it again and again. The user is usually slow for having to hold a big burden on them) If I think based on my height.. I'm suitable with short sword maybe. But, I do find long sword is cool for tall main character.

    But, if we tried to look from fantasy perspective, I like the type of sword that don't exist in medieval setting. We can choose to create any sword that we wants.

    While still having the shape of a long sword, the width is smaller. The sword will use the type of metal that didn't exist in reality. It has the colour of blue crystal clear water of the lake or a light green colour of the leaves in the forest. The long sword is lighter and sturdier than normal sword. The use of the sword is for person with high agility but lower in upper body strength. (speedster type) The sword won't be used to defend other's attack because the user don't have that much of a strength to make up for it. Due to the sword lightness and sturdiness, it can help to parry other's attacks quickly. And due to its sharpness, the user can make a quick thrust with the sword to jab, slab and stab enemies.

        Carciphones_02 suitable for women and men that lacks strength but high in agility. The special ability of this sword is that, whoever is holding the sword, their speed will boosted to 10x higher.

          Another one is a rapier!!!!! This weapon is also good to Parry sword attack. But, it's weak against axe and other heavy weapon. The user should also be speedster type. Having high speed and agility. good for piercing attack. It have a blue water and yellow lightning colour. The guard between the holder and the ricasso will have the carving of an ancient magic emblem.

          The carving will be the shape of water dragon and lightning turtle.

          The magic of a lightning turtle will increase the attack power of the piercing attacks toward the enemy. While magic of the water dragon will create a force shield to protect the user from the recoil of the piercing attack. Combination of these two magic will create a barrier around the user everytime piercing attack is used. Making it impossible for normal ranged attack like arrow and bullet to break through the defense.

                  Arthy_Pen There is kind of a special sword in my home country India, exclusive to the Marathas one of the many warrior's classes, hmm I don't remember its name but it looked cool it had wristguards on both sides covering the wrists from all sides.... and was very heavy in weight, you can search into it its pretty unique weapon one of its kind.....

                      Thus,i've thought about a mage sword.
                      I've seen this concept on Pinterest before.
                      (But, the idea I'm going to use about how the swords are functioning is an original idea)

                      Unlike the sword where we need a physical material to build it, this type of sword was created from a substance that only mage can create.

                      Based on the elements, if it was a dark mage, he will pour his magic into a specially made sword holder( a high durability glass case in the shape that the user feel comfortable the most) Inside the sword holder, there is a liquid that, when it comes into contacts with the magic, it will create a small explosion inside the bottle. Then, the runes that was carved on the bottle will work as a medium to shaped the explosion into a blade. thus, a dark sword is created.
                      The same reaction also happens with light magic, fire magic, water magic and any magic.

                      This type of mage sword is useful because it only use small amount of mana to activate. The swords are useful based on the elements ability. For example, fire sword can burn everything it touch, light and dark sword is use to paralyzed the person or animal it hits, water sword can dealt a high damage to the enemies, wind sword is good at slashing and ranged attack, thunder sword is good at piercing attack, earth and ice sword is good at defense etc.

                      But, the sword can only be used for certain amount of time before creating a big explosion. 😂 The liquid inside the sword holder is a high quality explosive. Despite the carved runes on the bottle is able to shaped the explosion into a blade, after some time, its' effect will run out.

                      When that time happens, the mage will throw the sword to their enemies and creates a shield using magic for themselves.

                      Because the size of the glass holder is small, the mage can bring more than one magic sword with them.

                          Pleasedeteme Indeed. Perhaps... a good concept about these objects is that they must still be grounded in reality even if you add a spice of 'imagination' to them. Somehow sitting between reality and fiction.
                          If it can be really done well, that is.
