  • What inspired you to write? Who is your role model author?

Louis Tolstoy
Love and War
Inspired in writing millitary based stories but with a twist of my growing self with fantasy and magic, i stumbles upon the rarer genre known as magical realism.

Crackgear oh nice! Love and War is a classic book. My writing also involves military stories, and I have to say that I'm pretty much overwhelmed with it. So many things to learn and research before I could write it on my story.
Your story has a twist of fantasy and magic...that sounds awesome. Perhaps like Lord of the Rings or Chronicle of Narnia?

Lexi_Roberson J.K. Rowling and Stephanie Meyer are great story-tellers :)
I wonder if you also got your inspiration from a dream? Good luck! And keep on writing!

bishop1275 Checked the novel "Hiding Behind My Mask" and also gave a review on it. Keep on writing!

If you liked Tolstoy, you may love "The Master and Margarita" by Mikhail Bulgakov; this is very different from British or American literature but well worth a try.

Jo_J Hmm, I could give it try. Sounds intriguing. Thanks for the recommendation!

Jan-Jan untamed is the author who inspired me and then as a whole web novel.
I remember reading about women who had terrible lives, their struggles as they slowly rise to a point of being happy and well feeling fulfilled.
After I tried looking for similar books but found web novel.
Chinese novels were not my thing, weak spoiled and stupid female leads are in 90% of the novels so it's a turn off at first. Though you have to give it to the author and..people behind them. The eloquence of these novels is amazing! Those were my thoughts, a book that can make you feel angry, depressed and happy is a worthy read in my opinion but the males...yeh those 2nd, 3rd, 4th male leads I pity them and so I decided.
Yo! Why not write reverse harem with the actual plot! I mean not only guys deserve a harem of women, what about a female overlord? A queen? A simple denominator, as I read these novels I thought perfect! But what about those males protecting the fl in the background?
In the end that's my inspiration, perhaps it might change but for the few months I have started, that's it.

I am a big fan of a number of Japanese light/web novels. If I had to say who my biggest inspiration was, it would absolutely be Mayamura (The writer of Overlord). The whole concept of the Evil overarching OP MC, the idea of world domination and writing from the perspective of demented characters who want nothing more than to see the world around them burn, those sorts of things. I was also heavily inspired by Fuse, the writer of "That time I was reincarnated as a slime", especially regarding the kingdom building aspects and the overwhelming ability system, as well as the whole "Monsters vs. Humans" thing. And finally, I was also heavily influenced by Tappei Nagatsuki, the writer of Re:Zero, both in terms of some of the abilities within my novel as well as the whole concept of putting characters through extreme psychological and physical suffering in order to promote their growth.

Jo_J Agree with you. I'm so sick of the CEO's typical story. Actually once I made a thread and asking opinion, what if someone writes a CEO story but not the typical story - not the young handsome smart irresistible CEO. But instead a dumb old CEO that you really want to kick off in real life :D But nobody response! Which means : not many people want to see something different :D

Wow,.. sorry to hear that Chinese novels give you such a bad impression with weak spoiled female leads.
But I have to say that's because you only read the Chinese web-novels stories.
Chinese novels written by Jin Yong, Liang Yusheng have great characters and strong female leads also. Actually I got my inspiration to write from Jin Yong - this author (passed away in 2018) gives a lot of influence in modern Chinese literature. Hongkong and China postal office even issued stamps to commemmorate him.

Anyway., if you're interested in reading historical-fiction (real historical events) with strong female leads, perhaps you want to read my novel : https://www.webnovel.com/book/records-of-the-immortals_17011867105133305
But I have to warn you : my female leads kill and chop bad guys' heads :p to pursue justice.
Although it's not a reverse harem, but my female leads may have some admirers who will swoon over their feet :D

Dubstheduke Nice! I've never read Japanese web novels. I only read some Japanese manga, and I think that Japanese authors have a strong characteristics that makes them outstanding!

Thanks for the link. I will try to read it when I have time. Keep on writing!

I don't know Chinese literature, but it can't be that bad since two contemporary Chinese writers (Gao Xingjian and Mo Yan) have won the Nobel Prize for Literature. I am sure that there are many many more great writers, like everywhere else in the world.

About the CEO 'thing" - I think writers consider CEO as synonymous of a power, property, etc.
What about the CEO of small companies with several people? It is still CEO ;)
I stop to read if I just see the word.
