TheLonerLion Make sure not to info dump too much as you now decide to focus on background in the initial chapterse.
Make it crisp and intrigue ur reader.

Keep ur hopes low so you won't be sad. Find a reading buddy who can give friendly critique as well.

KingBiBiK Welp............ I have more than 243k words ready..........that's more than one arc

But the thing is....... I'm lazy to even edit them.

I won't say I made too many mistakes but it's a pain to edit every chapter.....

Regarding the future of my Novel?......... I have posted few chapters on RR.

MissVixen Noooo. I am afraid you will be in trouble if you submit something that you post on RRL. I don't think they will take that..... watch out miss.

Also the heck 243k that's something. That's some dedication. You are college freshie right? Are you a lit major?
      Good luck.

        KingBiBiK Really?
If it is cringy....Don't blame me!

        Are you sure abt it?

you will find grammatical mistakes or some errors

        Are you sure abt it?

MissVixen I will turn a blind eye towards grammatical errors but I will give you a honest opinion regarding the story.

BTW you seems like you want to scare away your potential reader rather than coax to read. Upto you. You can tell me or not is entirely up to you.

KingBiBiK "I believe they are just warning us to not copy and paste a cover art and claim it to ours in our novel."
Ironic when so many chinese web novel writer are known to use pictures or fan art from japanese anime.... I once seen Kirito under the moon with its two sword....

KingBiBiK thank you for your advice. But... For the finding reading buddy who can give me a friendly critique...

            😭😭😭

I don't have friends who like to read. But I do have a paternal female younger cousin who likes to read........ Romance. 😥😥😥

She also understand a little English. So I tried to make her read my Novel once before. Do you know what I got....?

"What is this words mean?" And I got it many times until I want to throw up! When she begin to understand what the novel was about... Her eyes was looks like she said... "What is this sh*t my sis was writing? This is not even real in the real world? Time travel? There's no such a thing!!"

I know she is such a realistic person who maybe only like to read romance and something that didn't far from logic or real world. But how many people enjoy that?!

In the end... She ditch my novel to chat with her boyfriend.

The only people who were supportive to me were my big sis and mother.... Who doesn't understand a word of English. 😭😭😭

Nou I would love to let you guys read it. If it doesn't go against the competition's rules.

Contestants will submit the early chapters (at least 20,000 words) of their novel. All work should be completed individually.

              And,

Contestants must ensure that their work was completed independently without the assistance of any outside personnel or organization.

I'm not even sure if having a beta reader or let someone read it before submitting it to Qi would go against the rules or not.

TheLonerLion If it's not against the rules... I will help you beta read.

And one more thing: don't be too nervous. I know it's difficult to maintain calm in such moments... But to a writer, it's important to be calm. Being nervous while writing might spoil your chapters.

                It's hard though 😅😅😅

I'm also participating in the contest and I know how it feels. I'm trying to deceive my brain like I'm
Writing for fun and not for the competition. But I dunno how much of it worked. 😑😑😑

Anyway, give it your best shot. Good luck 👍

SidX Good luck to you too! Comrade!

I also keep telling myself to write for myself. What I want to write, not what the reader wants to read. That way, I can make something unexpected for the reader. And I also don't know how much it works. Hahaha.

How is your novel? Have you finished the first 20K words?

If any of u guys release an original novel. i will support you so go ahead. i got ur back fam

TheLonerLion My advice is that the length doesn't matter (beyond the min. required words), or that you need to complete an arc. I think what the judges will be looking at is how capable you are to keep your audience yearning for more after every chapter.

For webnovels, it is always an ongoing process. This makes it hard that if you end up writing yourself into a corner, it's very hard to redeem the story. So one thing is to be able to ensure that your story doesn't veer too far out that it becomes nonsense.

Solutions to that is of course have a good outline but the elaboration in each arc will be thought up as you keep writing. If you are able to have some foreshadowing that keeps the reader guessing, making them want to read further to confirm their guess, I think that's a rather successful story.
