THE CHOICE OF US
He stared me down, desire swimming behind his eyes that appeared equivalent to a storm brewing and under this lighting it amazed me how beautiful he suddenly looked.
An odd confession to make considering the disinterest I had when he unexpectedly planted himself in our lives. At that time he was wrapped in the same shade as the monster that took my brother away, but now. . . with the cream dribbling down his chin, his gaze open and innocent conveying images of the times he was there for me. Looked past my refusal to close the distance and bind our hands into this thing I couldn't name and made me. . . feel. Made me second guess myself.
Maybe that's why when a grin strecthed itself across his pink lips, I moved forward without a thought and licked the sweet cream off his chin. His hands landed onto my thighs giving the flesh a gentle squeeze as my tongue no longer my own moved gently across his skin. Paying more care to the skin no longer invested in the cream whose very taste was dim in comparison to the taste of him.
"T-Tiana. . . " he groaned removing his hand from my thigh- already missing the contact and moved it into my curly hair applying a gentle pressure to pull me back. Dark grey orbs bore down on me- the silence in the kitchen sinking in leaving the sound of our light pants for us two to fall aimlessly into the symphony.
"I don't think I'll have it in me to walk away, from you," he whispered, voice strained it seemed as he gripped my hair tightly. Taking my breath away at the harsh action, distorting my plan to reply with a simple" Then don't."
We all have a choice.
A decision to make that determines which way the clock ticks as time unravels till the very day you take your last breath.
For Tiana, that choice came in the shape and form of an unexpected stranger that falls into her life. After the loss of her brother's death, hate was too tempting a path to take for the same people who in her eyes were responsible for his death.
What more to actually love one of them.
They may not have had a choice at birth, what shade best suits them BUT they do do have a choice of what shade they can paint over the rest of their lives.
