I got a review for one of my books, this is what I got “ I just started so I can’t say yet but I definitely wants to see how the book will progress and why do I have to write a review to continue reading?” and I got one star.
I mean I never forced the person to write a review, if you don’t want to write forget it, I am not begging him/her. You could read without making a review, do you k ow how long it took me to even get a single review in my books?

    I get how you feel, got a one star review too basically saying how much they hate this book along with some comments of more hate and how my story is trash, disgusting etc

    Meh what do you want me to do? Youre not even saying why you hate it and well Im too lazy to bother with them

    But yeah it deals a blow to you, id say just ignore them, sadly theres not much to do ig. There'll be readers who will come to appreciate your hard work and stories so I hope youre not too discouraged

      MatchaMilk I mean, it would be good if he get a good reason on why he put a one star review but why would he say that he was forced to put a review? I don’t even understand some people thinking

          I think he reached the end of the published chapters and misunderstood the "Post a review" link. It says something like "chapters are over but new are coming soon, give a review"
          Still not a good reason for being rude, though

          I had one on one of my stories, and it really discouraged me to stop uploading. That book is now at 6,000 views, don't get discouraged, those are just some immature kids. Your book is great. :)

          I think what xiaohai_23 said (just after your post) is most likely the reason. He thought he had to review to continue reading.

          I'd suggest you be polite and thank him for liking the book enough to read it, but he did not need to review if he didn't want to. It was not required to do so in order to continue reading.

          Then, after a week or two, I'd delete the review because 1 for a misunderstanding or something lame reason like that is unfair to you. He won't get notified of the delete. However, there is a risk that if he is some petty person, he may feel you deleting his review (if he finds out) is you being unfair and he continues to spam 1 review... /shrugs

          I had people give my novel a bad rating due to weird reasons like the MC was female (it wasn't), or that it had something that it did not. Such reviews, I delete. If it's a valid low review based on proper reasons, I leave it.

          At the end of the day, rant, rave and then move on. Such reviews do not deserve being too down over, and know that you do what you do best: write.
