So, my favorite stories on Qidian are Experimental Log and release that witch. I don't understand how people can prefer generic xianxia/xuanhuan stories like Shadow Hack. Even the ones I used to read like strongest system and library of heaven's path gets old after a while. If you compare the writing between those novels and eplocl and rtw, you can see the author put a lot of thought into them wheras those other faceslapping and xianxia novels are basically like same plot and gets repetitive. I just feel like the standard reading level of average reader here is a bit low and that's why they can't appreciate the wit in Experimental Log and excellent pov stories in rtw.

TO be honest, seeing the good rating of this novel I tried to read it.. But cannot really enjoy.
It's just that up to chapter 4 I could only find two chapters and their really boring talks.
Give me some spoiler.... Maybe I will try read it again!!

      NewCultivator spoilers? Hmmm lets see...

      • he partners up with the reclusive and mysterious God of Death in order to avert the cataclysmic future that will be brought by the war between Order and Chaos
      • in the war between 2 factions, he becomes the arbiter, bringing judgment upon the Gods themselves
      • Seven deadly sins, born from his soul, allowed him to strike fear into the hearts of the Gods back when he's a Lich. As undead have a lower level cap compared to other beings (ancient dragons, elves, 9 headed hydras, elemental gods, etc), you can see how fearsome he is.
      • Eastern sword arts? Go to chapter titled: Adam
      • Ice Aeon, the forbidden spell used to ruin countless Elven Kingdoms and Human Strongholds under the sway of the Church of Holy Light? See it being unleashed against a 9 headed hydra in the chapters: Decisive Battle 1 and 2

      NewCultivator
      Spoilers from what I like
1.) He has reincarnated many times and his lich body is his current reincarnation... wait some chapters and He will regain a human perfect yin-yang body of chaos and order.
2.) He will go back to his kingdom... showing the march of the dead heroes, where his soldiers from his time with tattered flags and armors with rotten bodies gain confident to show there selves again.
3.) He cuts his soul into two, half becoming a system God.
4.) He kills Gods while being mortal turning their divinity into treasure weapons.
5.) He combined his chaos and order power to create life and another world to be his main secret stronghold.

I really like experimental log of the crazy lich, but reading it has been kind of difficult because it's verbose in a way that don't facilitate a smooth flow, not sure if that makes sense.
It was hard to pick it up, but yeah the plot is awesome

Got to chapter 91 5 months ago. It just didn't draw me in after a while. I can't remember what's special about him anyway, he was over powered and acted crazy? Forgot his goal in life. What did he do exactly, not really asking just saying it wasn't memorable.

        I like this novel too
But I think it’s kind of slow pace for beginning.
And at start it’s a little bit hard to understand the plot or what Mc really wanted to do. So people stop reading it

Author had wrote details too much for sometimes.
Like in one chapter - you got main story progressing on 10-30% the rest was smt that it’s ok to know but not that important.

this kind of story progressing is not mainstream. I felt a bit bored when i first have read it. Only reached till Mc got back to the surface (around 120+ maybe ) it got better a bit.

I think I will go for lnmtl after I reach the latest chap. Even if it’d be hard to understand jokes or some implicit words in novel.

goujing The writing style is a bit difficult to understand at times. It's almost comparable to reading old English. This could be the translator's fault or the intention of the author. Either way, it dances around the subject a lot and that makes for a draining read.
I do like Experimental Log of the Crazy Lich but I need to get myself into the mindset/mood to read it. With all the back and forwards jumps and the hypothetical realities, it can be a really tiring read.

goujing I once read RTW on Volare first release their i enjoy the first 150 chapters. Then i get bored of it.
My taste of novel is like MC growing strong destroying Mountain and Seas. Defying Heaven and Earth.
But if i say i like RTW than that Harry Potter.

As someone who has finished the story (and this being my first work too), the story is really interesting. There are huge information dump here and there, which makes it hard to follow and read, but the information does come together eventually to form a huge world in the end.

Also responding to some of the posts, the comedy tends to be on the slightly whacky side. Personally, I find the comedy golden (well, admittedly the front parts are a little more boring, but the interesting characters that are developed later on do have their golden moments later on). The comedy helps to prevent the story from getting too dark, so it wouldn't be too grim to read.

He does have the power of a lich. It just happens that he developed another new ability in his time as a prisoner. Also, I don't think there's a war which he has purposely lost before? I read the entire story and I don't recall any plot going that way.

Also, the name is also pretty apt. Experimental log—if you do read far enough, he keeps logs on his progress. Because he loses a bit of himself with each reincarnation, he keeps an entire library filled with diaries.
Crazy lich—he is indeed demented in a manner which he is ruled mainly by common sense and not morals. He does function well socially, playing and joking around with others, but for his aims, he is willing to push his moral boundaries, and I find that part rather fascinating. And his greatest ability lay in undead creation even though he is no longer a lich for the latter part of the story, so it isn't too wrong to call him a lich.

          [unknown]
Ah, my bad. I forgot about that one. You're right, he did lose the war intentionally.
Hmmm, they did explain the reasons thoroughly later on, which was pretty reasonable I think for the context of the story.

          SPOILERS if you are interested:
For one, he was already severely injured then because he went to the River Styx in an attempt to save a companion of his. But the River Styx was ruled by the God of Death which is one of the two strongest main god in that world, so he got crushed easily. But before he could be killed, he succeeded in convincing the God of Death of a certain plan, so they started conspiring together.

At the same time, from the God of Death, he learned that the gods of the Order Faction would not allow the Undeads to take possession the entire world because it would threaten the base of their believers. (Order Gods derive their strength from the faith of believers, so a huge massacre pretty much threatens their existence.) They wouldn't interfere if it's on the scale of something smaller as they would have a pay a pretty heavy price to descend to the world, but if it comes down to it, they would still be able to crush the Undead Army easily. All in all, his original goal of dominating the world with the Undead is already futile and they were damned for utter destruction if they were to continue down this path (not to mention he didn't really intend on dominating the world. He only wanted to exact vengeance, but the people that had gathered around him were pretty extreme). But if he were to announce that "let's stop the war and make peace", his supporters, which believe strongly in the aim of creating a world of Undead, would just overthrow him and a new person would be installed in his place.

So, he decided to just fake his death (kind of) and make his succession unclear so that infighting would break out within the army, and this way, they would just collapse themselves. At the same time, the Order Gods wouldn't have a reason to descend and wipe out the Undeads too, so happy ending.

Its funny..Seriously funnny.........Hmmm yes its funny......................ohhh Is this funny?...........Despite its funny(blinks eyes - my spinning head makes me even debate that.) I have no interest anymore. Because the flow of the story is so irritating. Just makes your head spin a little.

I stopped when that girl who is supposed to be his future killer or something, that hero guy's successor was introduced. I got bored plus I find her annoying for some reason I can't remember now..

            5 days later

i can kind of see how people might overlook this but seriously this has got to be the most interesting and funny and intense novels that you can read its like a really cool take on storys with systems and stuff and its sometimes really jokey but it can also be really intense with crazy battles you just have to give it a chance and you will realize that this story is insanely good honestly one of my faves

kylexcz basically its about someone who reincarnated and gets this awesome like system and its like a game and he can see all the plot lines and stuff but thats all in the past because he was plotted against and died but he turned into a lich to try and preserve his life and get revenge but after a while he realized thats that not what he wanted to be a lich and be someone who hurt everyone so he faked his death with the help of a hero and so everyone thinks this crazy powerful lich is dead but hes not and its about how hes trying to prevent the end of the world and i know i didnt really explain it well but its really original and really interesting his past is so interesting and rich just give it some time and this novel will grow on you

Yup ELCL is my favorite novel of all time. As well as the one with the best storytelling.

However somehow it had been undervalued...

Its the “After Story” of what happens to the Hero. It’s really a genius move on the Author. The only thing I hate is how his Ex-Comrades don’t trust him, and only the male friend knows MC value. I know he was once a demon king but he’s saved their lives countless times and even saved the girl who loved him but accidentally got killed. The friend who wants to die because he believed she died is stupid. She never loved him in the first place! That’s what makes it a frustrating read. I forgot their names

NewCultivator its also very wordy. Not everyone likes those styles - I really really enjoy his humour and the immense world.

If you don't want a typical repeated novel, this is a unique one.
