I am in the same boat as you. The majority of the novels I have read on Qidian I have already caught up to the latest chapters and 5 of the novels are currently premium novels where chapter releases are around 2-3/day. Now the problem becomes as more and more novels turn to premium, the number of novels which I will have to use SS for increases. Currently, 3 novels I am reading which are free atm becomes premium on the 4th of April, so this will make it a total of 8 books which I thoroughly enjoy reading and I will most likely have to pick and choose which one to keep or drop. Call me privileged and as much as I appreciate the "free 1 chapter" Qidian offers, I can't wait for that long and expect it to finish years from now.

Qidian needs to figure out a business model that will thrive long term especially if they expect loyal readers to continue patronising their website for years to come because a typical novel will probably take 3-4 years to finish if releases are consistent.

The only reason why I haven't yet turned to aggregate sites or reddit threads that has the current "premium" chapters is that I want to support them and actually want to see a thriving community, however, there needs to be a proper "fix" in regards how premium will work going forward in the future.

SirLobo93 The average amount of pages in a chapter? 18 to 25 depending on your font size.

LOL, funniest thing in this post. Try 4-8 pages AT MOST for web novels. Unless you are almost blind reading at 30 pt font size.

There are too groups of people:the rich and the poor. And Qidian doesnt give a flying fu*k avout your satisfaction as long as it makes more money than before. Welcome to life

They also have no professional standards for editors or translators in a lot of novels yet they expect us to pay far more than an average FULL paperback series of a published novel

StarKin I completely agree. I'm one of the fast readers and let me tell you, my pocket is feeling it lol

The biggest problem is that if we set an example that you spend 500-800 SS in a novel high consumption of SS (mmorpg rebirth of the legendary guardian or librery of haven's path) where you advanced about 20 chapters. Once the SS is over, you have to wait for the free chapters to catch up with you as long as Qidian does not continue to give you a free chapter from where you stay if not from where they go.

StarKin seriously agree with you, I am a fast reader & the systems definitely not fair for us :(

And the bad part about this is novels like library of the heavens part and immortal mortal cost an average of 13-14 spirit stones per chapter so just to read for a week 190+ spirit stones per week and 580+ stones per month just too expensive for half ass translation quality

Rythin best advice ever fellow daoist, ive never thought of using alt accounts to read specific premium novels. Many thanks 👍

I use the edge reader and it estimates 10 to 15 minutes on average 13 min is splitting the difference. So I totally agree with your statement as well, it couldn't ring more ture. I'll trust the system more than someone's random guess.

Reserve the right to ignore this message cause the replier is one of the ones hampered with brain issues with no hope for recovery. Sorry for your inability to adjust to a more handicap-able world. I hope there will be a cure for your stupidity one of these days.

I will state that none of my stats are made up and googling average speeds vs dedicated readers and speed readers would get you a quick estimate...

i spend nearly 200 ss every two three days.. i have no choice but to spam my friend to sign up to donate me some stones.. some novel which gone premium like True Martial World cost me 11-8 stones each chapter now.. i stop reading it and just let it roll.. I’m reading more than 10 novels a day and most of them on ongoing.. honestly i very tempted to pay however like what other mentioned.. we are still at the mercy of the translator.. have to wait.. not that i’m being unreasonable.. they work hard too.. now i’m just reading from website like Volare and some other direct translator pages..

SirLobo93 Eh... to be fair - my time estimates were based on the very LONGEST chapters I've ever seen on Qidan. Not the average chapters. And not those dinky little 3-stone chapters take me barely a min to read. Also, just because I follow that many novels doesn't mean most of them update daily. (One group has very consistent monthly releases)

As for how I find the time? Simple. I don't watch tv! (And I'm old enough not to be in school anymore)

It's not really that big of a deal. If you use mobile app, wich comes with basically 4 legal/proper ways to access the books(mail, facebook, twitter and google+) you get ~30x4stones daily(6-15x2+5+5). During a month you basically get 3k-4,2k stones monthly. Even rounding it down to let's say 3,2k you have enough to be up to date with multiple premium novels.
