  • A Webnovel editor contacted me through Wattpad. Is it legit?

I was offered a non-exclusive contract from an Author Liaison representative of Webnovel through Wattpad. I'm sure that there have been other questions like this however I would like to state my situation. The other question's answers said that it was legit but I was contacted and my story barely started. It's only been a day since my first chapter come out and I don't have a lot of reads. So everything about it seems sketchy. So can someone please answer my question.

I got that too, I dont lnow if ts a scam or not

Random_Person0 Learn this by heart: "If this is too good to be true, it's a scam"

He'll probably make you believe things and ask for your personnal information or to send him money
Also never sign anything without asking for legal advice from a lawyer or a paralegal

It's real but I don't recommend tying yourself to a web novel contract. They have a pretty bad rep, last I checked

Things like minimum word count clauses which are 1,500 words per day. For context that's a three-page essay EVERY DAY

And they reserve the right to take back all money you make if you fail to meet content quotas.

You might think. well, that seems fine if they help me market my book but they won't and your "personal editor" is usually going to be nonresponsive.

JustLetMeSleep It's not a matter of what is possible for you. You are tying yourself to a contract that gives you 0 benefits and forces you to work for them. If you really plan on dedicating yourself that deeply you might as well skip the contract all together since all it does is tie you to the webnovel, and reduces your artistic freedom.

The contract also stipulates you are responsible for "damage" if you fail to meet the quota which is an equally slippery slope.

Random_Person0 Well it's a legit offer... and I would suggest not listening to some says that "you need to write 1.5k words a day" Since that only applies to exclusive contracts who's aiming for MGS... The non-exclusive contract lets you paywall your chapters, but the promotion is all yours...

Tho, if you're trying the non-exclusive, you'll still be able to publish in other platforms and earn from there.... and make sure everything in your novel, even the cover, is all yours.. else you might face some problems.

You can ask me more questions if you're confuse.. I have a non-exclusive contract myself, and I haven't had any problems so far.. and the community is very kind...I even got a free cover from one of them.

Also.. it's a mass release offer, i think.. they don't actually read t he story.. 😋

Hey guys, can I scan and upload only the signed pages of my contract or do I have to scan and upload all pages of the contract?
