My library doesn't seem to be updating. Ive tried restarting the app and changing internet connections but the connection to everything but the forum seems to be down.
Update: Restarting my phone fixed the problem. Upon library refresh, I got a notification that a series i had voted on "Start With Contracting Sprites" was releasing new chapters, but after checking it, this was not the case. I am disappointed 
Lastear this has happened to me, but I've noticed, if I clear the cache and wait an hour or so, it then seems to update. Sometimes the changes of the novels don't come to the books in your library right away.
As for the alert telling you there's an update, I think it's likely the author made some changes in one of the already posted chapters and hit save/update, which will then shows up as an alert for you.
