We apologize for our oversight regarding our Terms of Service Clause 6.2. We would also like to thank everyone for all the feedback regarding this clause.

The original TOS was last updated on 27 December 2017, and it was meant to cover any possible content (which were only technically limited to comments and reviews from users). We did not manage to update the TOS in a timely manner as we are still in the process of upgrading our Inkstone platform to allow content submissions from authors.

Thanks to your feedback, we realized our oversight and understand how the old TOS can cause aspiring authors discomfort. We have reviewed the clause and we will be changing Clause 6.2 to the following:

Limited License Grant to Webnovel. By posting or publishing User Content, you grant Webnovel a worldwide and non-exclusive right and license (with the right to sublicense to Webnovel affiliates solely in connection with their provision of the Services) to host, store, transfer, display, perform, reproduce, transmit, broadcast, modify (which is made solely for the purpose of formatting for display), and distribute your User Content, in whole or in part, in any media formats only through our Services.

We have narrowed the license scope to ensure that it only pertains to our Services and removed any other excessive license grants. Content creators will continue retaining the copyright and other proprietary rights as stated in Clause 6.1. We fully understand and respect how important copyright is to our content creators.

Our original intent was and is for everyone to create content as they wish. We also plan on grooming aspiring authors with a comprehensive system to motivate authors. Even without any monetization of the content, we believe we can provide a substantial income for authors, to ensure consistent chapter releases for our readers. We believe that the financial motivation from a stable income and support from readers will help authors maintain their passion towards content creation for extended periods of time.

We apologize once again for our oversight and thank everyone for bringing it to our attention.

    WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL Well I certainly feel better, but only for the other authors. With my backing, some small ToS clause wouldn't be an issue.

    I also have a question for you and wonder if you can help. I've have tried to upload my novels' covers to inkstone, but they don't show up when I go back into novel settings. Will the covers only show when I publish the novels or is it a bug?

        The cover does get updated if you upload it when creating a new novel. But I have experienced the same problem when I tried to update the cover of a novel.

                            BurningSkies I think they mean, reformatting (to fit screen sizes) moving your work to other servers (incase of server issues) and backing up work automatically in another place... They might censor cusswords and stuff like that though..
