How do you get the fanfic ball rolling? Is it as difficult to get views as with an original novel, or is it easier? If it is, what are the best ways to expand the readership on the fanfics?

I'm writing a fanfic, where I reimagine the attack on titan world, but if Eren had ghoul powers rather than turning into a big monster and going aaaaarghhh.

I think I got the famous franchise part down. Should I mess with the topic? I have it set on 'Attack On Titan' for now.

My cover doesn't look half bad and I'm trying my best with the content. Consistent uploads and all. The new tag system is a bit weird but I think I have the ones which describe my work the best.

Do I just have to wait? Cuz I've seen some fanfics with 18 or so chapters and 30k views.

MayDreamer I mean, yeah, I did hear that too. So I put it to the test. 388 views 2 chapters in maybe 3 days seem like pretty average numbers to me. Initial views don't depend on quality, that's where collections come in. And those 388 views are probably from me refreshing to check the view count.

So the fanfic traction I'm getting is as much as if not worse than my original work. At least in my original work I review swapped and got to 2.4k in a week.

So that's why I wrote this post. Do fanfics only blow up if they're about say MHA or the big three. If we're talking about subjects I'd say attack on Titan is huge. Or does it blow up after reaching a certain amount of chapters? Or were people just lying about how getting views on fanfics is easier?
