Hi im more or less new to the whole getting paid to write thing. So my question is what are the requirements and how do you get a contract? Can you apply for one or do they just come to you? And also do you need to contact the people on inkstone? (Editor Team).

I really wanna know thanks.

SaggyLettuce There're some ways to earn a contract:

    1. The basics β€” your book must reach fifty thousand words and you can apply for a contract at the editor's desk or wherever (I don't know where lol)

    2. Join Writing Prompts Contests β€” by joining, you also make your book open to some followers of WPC. Outstanding works gets to sign a contract.

    3. They'll come to you β€” yes, they come to you. I don't know how that works but I'll share my experience. Basically, as I, an author is scrolling through Instagram and talking with a few internet friends, a notification popped up on my screen. A novel editor liked a post of mine. I predicted what might happen actually, the next day then, after updating my book WWD, I received a message from one of web novels assistant editor. The editor is Helen Bold, maybe you could reach out to her when yours reached the standard number of words😁 She followed me and said, β€œHi! I'm an assistant editor with Webnovel. Wanted to ask you if you're interested in signing your works πŸ™‚β€ Since I am a person with massive amount of skepticism running through my head, I hesitated, my book is new with just 13 chapters at that time so I was uncertain but as I made up my mind, I replied, β€œSure!”

She talked about the advantages and disadvantages, the profits. She told me that the title of my book as well as the link and my email should be sent to her if I derived upon a decision. Th contract is per novel so you will have to go through the same process in every book you apply for.

4k words are needed to uploaded to start the review period and 12k words is necessary so that the contract will be sent to you.

Once I followed the instructions, my book was sent to editors for screening. Your book won't be reviewed if:

    1. You don't update your book for at least once a week, it shouldn't exceed in seven days, you have to maintain updates to be able for your book to be reviewed.
    2. Your book is tagged 'completed' during the process. Please don't tag your book as completed during the process.

An email will be sent to you, of course, I emails and there will also be an inkstone notification.

There are some suggestions that hopefully might help you pass the review process:

    1. Have at least 5 tags in your novel, preferably 10. (make sure the tags are related to your novel)
    2. Install the free version of Grammarly (grammarly.com) which is an extension that will help correct basic grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc
    3. Make sure you put your book under the most suitable genre, giving the wrong genre may delay the review of your book.
    4. And most importantly, update regularly!

Your book's chapter word count must have a minimum of 1000 words and maximum of 2000 words since it's better sale for the readers. I advise to have neat writing since readers like neat way of writing.

Currently, two of my books are being processed for screening. hope this helps!

Oh, it felt the same with me... Before they introduce contracts in inkstone, I was offered a contract too. I was so surprised, honestly; I didn't know my book had any potential at all.

        8 months later

Hey, so after applying. You get the notification in a couple of weeks through email. If so, can you deny the contract after that or you can't?
