Greetings, fellow Daoists.

Currently, I'm reading The Desolate Era and the 2 Gourmet novels.
I've read 80% of the translated chapters of DE, and I already have a list of novels to read after.
To name a few, there's Warlock of Magus World, Library of Heaven's Path, Martial God Asura, Renegade Immortal and Coiling Dragon.
However, I'm having trouble picking up the next one because all of them look so good, so I'm reading reviews both here and NU to determine my own ranking.

I wish for you seniors to provide me some guidance.

Right -- so my question is, since Coiling Dragon is also written by IET, could you tell me if, on the later chapters, it is every bit as exaggerated as DE?
ATM I'm a bit unhappy about the leaps in scale in DE -- the time-skip thing explains it, but... shrugs
Anyway, don't get me wrong -- I don't mind if the scale becomes huge -- as the saying goes, "There are People beyond People, and Heavens beyond the Heavens."
But... at c803, my Geiger Counter is about to break, lol.

Your insights would determine if CD will be placed on the 3rd-novel-to-read, or the 7th.

Library of Heaven's Path is one of the most popular novels on the site, it's got some good comedy, worth a read.
And I haven't read any of the others on your list :)

Strongest System and Ultimate Scheming System are both similar novels to LoHP, they feature MCs with strong cheats and shameless natures, also very funny :D

Veldora Library of Heaven's Path, in my opinion, is a bit like a casual read. It's really funny, but I wouldn't read it too seriously. People seem to praise it quite heavily though. Personally, I think it's an alright read but the selling point of the novel is the MC and not really the world.

I haven't read Renegade Immortal, but it's an Er Gen novel, and he's a damn fine writer.

Coiling Dragon, later on, also has time skips of hundreds of years when meditating and stuff. The setting of DE seems so much larger than CD's setting though and DE fits under the 'pure xianxia' genre with people 'gaining eternity' and the such. CD is a toned down version of DE basically. It's good and it certainly pulls a lot of people across to reading webnovels, but I doubt it's anyone's favourite. CD is also very westernised, so maybe IET wrote it to pull people over... who knows. I would recommend it if you were starting out reading webnovels, but if you're experienced, I wouldn't stress reading it too much.

I did read Martial God Asura, and that also fits under the 'pure xianxia' genre although it's got this darker tone about it. That's what I feel, but I don't have a way of explaining it.

Also, +1 to what @Millman97 said. Strongest System and Ultimate Scheming System are both really funny novels!

      Hope that helps :)

        Millman97
Thanks for the input guys. Yeah I also have SS and USS on my to-read novels but I want to let them accumulate chapters first lol. But if I start binge-reading MGA I might not be able to resist.

Neverfire7 Ahhh oic. I've read the manhwa of CD and that's one of the main reasons why I'm interested in reading it -- I just couldn't bear to not see it through the end. Hmmmm, but I guess I'll read the other novels in my list first before going to it.

        Thanks again, fellow Daoists~

In Coiling Dragon, there is a heaven above the heavens. There are gods above gods. And there are many Haeru-like existences who are forgotten by the series.

So if you're debating between 3rd or 7th, I'd definitely recommend ranking it 1st. That way, by the time you're angrily frustrated by the series (and is completely finished with it), you'll have a nice stockpile of chapters from your original list that you can binge on and enjoy. The lower your starting point, the higher the peak will be.

So, for my 2 cents. Coiling Dragon is one of my favorite novels of all time. I like it much better than The Desolate Era. However, Coiling Dragon goes big too, I mean, it's IET. Also, CD has my favorite female love interest of the majority of the novels that I have read. Coiling Dragon is complete, so you don't have to worry about those almighty cliffs.

Library of Heaven's Path is also very good. As others have said, it is a light read. It is super fun, but you will have to face the cliff boss everyday while waiting for new chapters.

Warlock of Magus World is not everyone's cup of tea. It seems to be one of those novels where you either love it or hate it. The main character is different from your typical main character. He only looks out for himself and is a bit of a sociopath. Whatever benefits him is what he will do. This turns a lot of "righteous" people off of the novel.

As for Renegade Immortal, it's Er Gen. What's left to say?

I have not read MGA, so I cannot help you there.

Veldora well I have only read [Library of Heaven's Path] and [Warlock of The Magus World] from the list you mentioned but if you want to read some comedy novels I suggest [Library of Heaven's Path], [The Strongest System] and [Ultimate Scheming System].

As for action I suggest [Ancient Godly Monarch], [True Martial World], [Ultimate Scheming System], [History's Number 1 Founder] and any of the novel of Feng Ling Tian Xia.

As for my personal Favourites I suggest [Tales of Demons & God's], [Pet King], [I'm Really A Superstar] and [The Strongest Gene]

I know I have suggested a long list but it's based on the preference and the way you connect to this novels without reading them, I mean your heart connects to the novel without even reading a single word like I got an urge to read [Venerated Venomous Consort] by just seeing it's Cover Photo. πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜† Old Memories

Nou The reason why I put CD somewhere between the 3rd and the 7th of my to-read novels is because I'm already reading DE, I need to read something... different. But still action-packed.

Doesn't have to be Xianxia or Xuanhuan, great battles within the mortal realm is good, too.
If you have any recommendations on the Wuxia genre then please fire away.

SunriseCV Thanks for the info. Don't worry I'm more than happy to read about an unconventional MC.
Though so far, all of the "unconventional" novels I've read before aren't able to maintain their consistency, before the end they become... soft. lol Hopefully that won't be the case on this one.

Alew Thanks man, actually most of the novels you recommended are also in my library, or bookmarked in NU especially the ones under Fenglin TIanxia. Sooner or later I'd have read them all _

                  Pokemon !!
                  lol

But daym I just read the description of [History's Number 1 Founder] and I'm very intrigued. I might start reading this right after DE, lololol.... oh man so many novels, so little time, and I'm such a slow reader.... what a shame, shame...

Veldora What about Fengling Tianxia's stuff? I.e TTNH, OEM, IAS and RitF. They're pretty good but OEM is my favourite of them by far. Most of FLTX's books mix humour and tragedy/seriousness very well. I would definitely recommend you read them

Neverfire7 Thanks !! Yeah I'll read 'em. Already bookmarked. Ahaha at this rate I'll remake my list lol.

Anyone has their opinions on novel I recommend you not read novel that are very long chapter and it isn’t finish
As I read all novel you mentioned half way I suggest you to read novel like(in my opinion) strongest gene and immortal mortal etc from qidian

Anyone has their opinions on novel I recommend you not read novel that are very long chapter and it isn’t finish

Anything by Er Gen is good. QI has Pursuit of the Truth, while wuxiaworld has Renegade Immortal, I Shall Seal the Heavens, and A Will Eternal. Of course, you can be a bad person and read them here.

Klepar I don't think anyone even bothers reading them on here anyway, especially since the links to the chapters on NU direct them to WW. Kinda sad and funny because Qi must've gone through each chapter for each book 1 by 1, copying and pasting each chapter into a second document. It makes me tremble with fear just thinking about doing such a tedious and mind-numbing task.

Neverfire7 I'd say that using the app to read the is more comfortable than using the website, since you can just download it all in one go and not bother about tracking your progress.

Klepar It can't be helped, fellow Daoist. I like the infinite scroll.
Though I admit that I couldn't help but sigh when I see those copy-pasted hyperlinks on the chapters lololol.
Neverfire7 I've read ISSTH here. Of course, because it was copy-pasted there were some repeats and even missing chapters, especially close to the end. During those times, I visit WW. _
