I am reading a few stories on webnovel and so i have to spread my fastpasses and coins around. I did the math and a story i am reading has 1704 chapters and to read the whole thing i would need to spend just under 200 dollars to unlock each chapter assuming 6 coins per chapter. Thats 200 dollars for one reader for one novel. How is this site keeping readers. There are so many good stories here buy I cant afford one novel let alone the 40 that are in my library. I want to support the authors and content creators but that is absolutely crazy.
I am genuinely curious how much people are spending on this app or if they feel like they can actually keep up with their novels with the few fast passes granted each day.

Misguided_Rooster my issue is the cost difference between print and electronic. If this was in print it would be not nearly 200 dollars. I didnt realize to keep up with 5 novels on this site i needed to pay hundreds of dollars.
I've learned that some chapters are fillers. So, I read the blurb and then skip if I think it's filler. I don't normally miss much but it helps my wallet

Look at it this way. If the novel on WN was published into an actual book, it would likely be a large number of books. Since there's similarity, I'll use an example of light novels. A few WN chapters (let's say 3) = 1 chapter, and a few chapters a book (let's say 5) would make 15 chapters on WN in 1 book at around an £8 price. At 114 volumes to complete it, it would cost just over £900. While I might be off with the chapters, I'm also probably low balling the price per volume by a little bit. When framed this way, does it still seem so bad to you, or is it a little more fair?
I guess this is why traditional publishing still publishes books in sequels only when there is customer interest. That way they can sell series with 10s of volumes. The only thing is that it will take years to get the whole series instead of months like on Webnovel. So I guess it's a choice- pay hundreds of dollars for the whole series now or pay 10 or so dollars for each volume over a decade or two.

It is really crazy. Now i have to pay 15 coins for the chapter. It is about $300 for 1500 chapters.
I never seen such expensive books. Moreover many chapters have stats and skills descriptions and almost meaningless for me. $300 just to read the book once is too much...
