I don't hate webnovel or anything but I was curious if there are any other writing platforms out there that offer weekly competitions and promotions like webnovel does with a good reader base.

I understand your feelings but there's no competition as of yet. Scribblehub and RR are the only ones sadly.
Sometimes it does feel insecure because it's a Chinese website, no? Its very slow in responding to people here from what I heard so everyone goes to Discord...?
