💞 'You will never be able to run away from me Chloe,' he told her, their faces inches apart. Then, from his hands on her shoulders, his left hand travelled to the back of her neck in the speed of lightning, arched her neck back a bit as his lips descended on hers, hot and urgent.

💞 He wasn’t her father, the Nwabuagu tiger. He was not one of her three exes, John, Collins and Chima. Clement loved her. Well, the others had claimed to love her too until they had seen, beheld all that was her, her true form, unlovable, repulsing, twisted and void. What made Clement different?

💞 She couldn’t find a solid reason to set him apart from his predecessors. They all pursued her relentlessly, tirelessly, claiming to want her, desire her. They all made her theirs, later falling in love with her, building and planning a future with her. Then, they all fell out of love with her when they saw the truth of her form.

💞 Therefore, when Clement had come into her life, she had raised her walls higher, been thrice on guard. Yet, he had slipped past all of her defenses and straight into her heart like cupid’s arrow, melting it along with her walls and barricade. She had had no idea of when all these had happened for he had been as swift as an unexpected tide.

    And to be fair, the 'hiding his power' trope only works for me if the MC isn't getting looked down on or mocked by the general public, I mean seriously, the people in these novels are fucking jerks, authors these days really love it when some mob characters mock their MC for no reason just to increase the word count, if someone doesn't have talent how on earth it's his/her fault??

    'Oh, you only have trash-tier talent? HAHA, eat my fist powerless noob!' Some a**hole mob character.

    ''Hey look! Isn't that the trash F-tier (Insert Mc's name here)? Haha, let's mock him and beat him up for no reason!" A bunch of young masters had showed up for no reason.

    'Haha! Look, it's the academy's number one trash, let's mock him and laugh at him because we are mob characters and that's our only role in this story!'

    And so on and so forth.

        DrDedot I honestly agree with you about how the novels on web novel are so repetitive and generic; but that's what gets popular on there I guess. You can check out my novel is you want to; its set in a post apocalyptic world from which the MC is a part of a family who controls the mafia; the whole backstory about him is a mystery cause theirs more reincarnation stuff involved as well. I'm not gonna spoil cause it ment to be a mystery; but the MC gets stuck in a spirit world based on feudal Japan and ends up getting involved in the wars going on there.
