Blahblahblahblah lol
By posting it, you are publicizing the existence of this pirating site and allowing those people who don't want to pay to visit and use it.
Isn't that enough reason?
KingBiBiK That's not the point here and I don't have the slightest intention to post them here. I'm merely reporting and asking.
Blahblahblahblah Well it's the other way around!!.....huahaha!!
They have the rights to the translations, but Qidian own the raws(chinese versions) and they had a good deal going on, but Qidian fucked it up...
It's old shit....
Qidian(edit- Its Qidian International/Webnovel.com) stole their hard work and translations.
huahahahah!!
UnhingedTaboo I think you are mistaking the sites in question here. The one doing the copying currently is not 'wuxiaworld' but 'wuxia-worlds'. Unlike the wuxiaworld (which we all know and is a legal translation team), 'Wuxia-worlds' is a leech website hosting everything from jp to cn. Now, they are even hosting Original novels, which is why she must be angry.
That site has already been reported to Webnovel for their proper course of Action. I personally spoke to the head of Original's last week about it.
So don't keep on reposting this. Mod will surely hide or close it.
Let webnovel deal with it and file the DMCA takedown notices.
Lol I search for that post too. Have you read this post, about Qidian's scandal?
https://publishingperspectives.com/2013/06/scandal-rocks-chinas-largest-online-literature-site/
Water0202020 Ah!!..... my bad...!!
ManawaSasa That post -scandal-... Its like 5 years ago...? :3
Thanks.
Pilum_Murialis Alas it is what might have been. From the article:
At the time Qidian was owned by Shanda Group and their business model:
“readers are charged 2 fen for each 1,000 words of a story they read (1 fen = 1/100th of 1 Yuan). Readers can download part of a story for free and then pay for the rest in installments once they reach a certain point. (One Yuan = approximately $0.16). 70% of the money goes to the writer — the rest goes to Qidian. And so while the price for readers is next to nothing and just a few Yuan for a full-length book, royalties can add up quickly for writers if they’re able to capture a large audience.”
Note: Fens are like spiritstones. So 1 Fen = $.0015 for 500 words.
Then we have this reference about Tencent's Literature Unit:
“If an author wants to get VIP status and charge for their work, they must give Qidian the full copyright and ownership of the work. This is apparently part of the reason why Luo Li and the rest of Qidian’s founding team left the company earlier this year in order to start a new literature company with Tencent,”
Now if we add in this article & this mention about the Tencent Unit:
https://technode.com/2013/05/31/tencent-launched-an-online-publishing-platform-with-the-former-qidian-team/
In terms of copyrights, the newly-found site’s contracts with writers run limited years, different from the perpetual copyright held by other literature sites.
But alas Tencent's plan for "limited years" was all for naught when they merged their literature unit with Shanda (Qidian) under the Shanda CEO:
http://www.scmp.com/lifestyle/technology/article/1740029/merger-chinese-online-publishing-sites-will-create-chinas
Which of course eventually resulted in this:
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-tencent-holdings-china-literature-ipo/tencent-unit-china-literature-launches-up-to-1-1-billion-hk-ipo-idUSKBN1CS02O
TL;DR People in China recognized that having an author sign away their copyright ownership was a questionable practice, yet the desire for profit won out over what was fair to an author.
But hey, we the readers don't really care, as long as we can read the novels. Or we get attacked for pointing out the unfairness to writers. :(
Water0202020 omg! I see lots original novel here posted on that site.
@Cobyboy : your novel is there too
checkm8 Wow
I think Im one of those ignorant readers
