In the last couple days, I have decided to start writing on the platform. Yeah, I’m excited. However, I found something REALLY annoying.
If I want to see the views update on the stories I’ve posted I have to go to the website itself and spam the refresh button. And it only updates by 10-15 or so views each time. I have no idea is anything else might be weird with the analytics. I have tried closing the app/website over and over and even signing in and out several times. Hell I even restarted my phone a few minutes ago. The views counter? It’s busted. I tried this in another random story that wasn’t mine. I hit refresh some times and after a few it updated.
It looks like the platform is only showing you the amount of views something has gotten since you joined the service or something like that.
Edit: I actually tried posting a new chapter to one just to see if that would update things but it had no effect either. My throw-away “The Book of Story-less Experimentation” told me it had 408 views before AND after I tried submitting another short chapter.

Oh, I just thought of another thing. I had a similar problem when I was trying to update an author’s note on my story.
It wasn’t matching the last change.

Abyssal_Aurora Webnovel uses viewbots. It shows the correct view count, but every time you refresh it, it adds like 10-15 views. The webnovel views are fake, but you can check the valid reads on inkstone, as it updates every day. Usually, a story with over a 100k views only gets around 100-200 valid reads a day, and the viewbot is there to boost the confidence of authors.

AceAmbrosia well it definitely boosted mine.. until I started getting hella confused by it. That’s a shame but thanks for telling me.
Now to proceed to pull up ink stone on my laptop as planned since I can barely see the thing on my phone lol

Edit: is there a certain way to see those “real values”? I brought the site up on my laptop and it’s just… it’s exactly like what was on the app/site

Abyssal_Aurora Valid views(reads) on inkstone statistics are updated every day (China Time). Like, my book got around 1k views on the actual profile, but only 72 valid reads, which tells me 930 of those views were viewbots.

Usually, before the story is contracted, it makes more sense to go by collection number.
People don't collect your novel unless they plan to read on.

              Lu_Shui fair enough, I guess
              Thanks guys ^^ “

Seems like this platform just has some problems and people have been learning to deal with ‘em..

I have been on this platform for a few months now. Views around 20k but actual valid reads around 140 - however, I not a statistics person, I don't know how to interpret it though haha - I have no idea whether I am doing bad or good.
