The current review and rating system is broken, and does not do what they are supposed to do.
Scroll down the list of novels and you will see that almost all novels have a rating of 4.0 and above. This is a problem, as ratings are supposed to allow new readers to know the quality of the story.

One way to fix this could be to remove the current five different areas to choose from when giving a story a rating. Seriously, why does update stability even need to be an area to give a rating on? The job of translators are to translate, and if they don't meet their quota they should be fined, warned and eventually fired, it should be the QI's job to make sure of that, not the readers. Remove the five different areas, just make it a single choice of one to five stars.

A second problem is that to give a rating, readers need to write a review. This review also has to be 140 characters, which is very annoying and can easily put off a lot of readers who wanted to express their likes or dislikes of novels. Seriously. Remove the 140 character minimum. Or even better, remove the link between ratings and reviews and make them singular.

A third problem is with other readers. I see a lot of them giving 5 star reviews and ratings when there are even 1-3 chapters out, saying "looks interesting" or "I look forward to this novel". Keep this stuff in the comments. These reviews just fill up the ratings with 5's, and in turn inflate all the ratings on this website. There should be a 20 or so read chapter minimum before being allowed to post a review, which helps new readers find informed reviews and an accurate portrayal of the novel.

Problem is they want like 5 different criteria to be used, which unless you're biased almost always even out.

    I agree, the current system is very flawed. This has been discussed repeatedly in various forums and I've never seen Qidian respond. I don't think they care.

    Another problem is when you are looking at the "All genre" panel, if you sort by rating, you will only get original story at 5 stars each. More often with little to no chapter.

    Should make it so that the author/translator can't note their own story.

      Rarylith Your suggestion is solved by CLONES. Gwahahaha. Some author make clones and write review themselves. So it is useless. Except if Webnovel use the technology to count fake votes. However, WN didn't.

      So as a reader, you don't need to read 4 to 5 star reviews, those rating, those power stones rank. All could be manipulated.

          I will suggest review will available after the story reach minimum 10 chapter. Or else, like above said, 5 stars review for 2-3 chapter only

            If they implemented the '20 chapters to review' thing then that'd be lit.

            All I see in Translated and Original Novels is people giving 5 stars when they are at 0 chapters.

            Especially Translated, as you'd think Qidian would restrict this or something..but noope.
            They don't give a shoot.
