I started reading RTW recently and i am quite bothered by the use of revolving rifles by the infantry to be specific.
Being an engineering student myself i quite enjoy the novel as it is quite realistic however, the use of revolving guns is not. The problem with revolving guns it's the gap between the end of the chamber and the start of the barrel, it sprays led and hot gas, if we are talking about smokeless powder then the problem is even worse considering that it has higher chamber pressure. You can make it if you go by the same mechanism as the Nagant revolver m1895, but that is needlessly complicated and the payout you receive is not worth it, also you can not convert black powder rifles to smokeless since black powder muzzle loaders have anywhere from 50 cal to 75-80 cal while smokeless have the upper limit at 50 cal. In my view if he has the technology to make revolving rifles with percussion caps he should just make Mauser action style rifles, and the stage he is now making Assault Rifles it;s quite easy. In conclusion all around good novel just not that great for a guy that loves guns, I would do a way better job.

pepenresd Wow! That is some deep information. The author should take a note from a true researcher.
I have to admit I didn't understand real world application of the research. Most authors didn't have enough time to deeply research. For example, I look a guide in my local language 'cara menanam padi' (how to plant paddy rice) and used it in my secondary novel. I read another guide later and I found the first guide lack some steps. Yet the chapter had already been published. Lol.
I even had forget the technological steps the MC used. I only knew he made some hot weapon and Kabooom!!! The enemies die. He won. Meet another enemy! Here is a better Kaboom! Kaboom! He win again.
I like more about how he build his har... wait his witch friend organization and the relationship between the character. Gwahahaha. I aim to make similar story where everyone had a story in my main novel but it will be still far too long.

No... This Rabbink would face BIG trouble if I am sent into an isekai world without system. There should be class on how to survive in Isekai world.

I came to the same conclusion myself awhile ago and my guess is the author simply likes them. Given the DW the mc is going to have in the future it doesn’t make sense why he doesn’t rapidly improve their capabilities based on the best technology available instead opting to start at the beginning. If you know how to create modern equipment then why the hell would you start with steam technology?
Talking about technology reminds me of a game with title Civilization.
Before can make chariot you should have technology call wheel making first, maybe the author also want to applied that in his story :)
