In iOS, to know a word's meaning, you just have to highlight them and a black bar will pop up where when you click the, "Look up", the word's meaning will appear. Though I don't know about the Android's, but in the iOS webnovel app, you can't highlight things. Though this isn't really significant or anything, I think the app will be better if the highlight was allowed, making iOS user's reading experience much better and faster as they don't need to go through merriam or something just to look up for the word's meaning.
Allow highlight on iOS

Agreed. Most other reading apps provide a similar function. It seems particularly useful for chinese novel translations as you occasionally see some uncommon words pop up. Let me check if Android allows it.
Edit: No it doesn't.
Oh, and some apps allow for highlight comments. It's a rather interactive feature.

Bump. Currently reading I'm Really A Superstar on the Android app and not being able to select the YouTube links for the songs makes it really hard to access. (Having to enter links into browsers manually) @WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL
