  • I'm not seeing things am i? Is this a legit update for Martial Arts Master? seriously?

    Hallelujah, Amen!

  • I don't check in often for anything other than Release that Witch nowadays. Immediately noticed that there hasn't been any normal updates since 06/07/19, or ever since privileged came out.

Does that mean we're being forced to buy privileged just to finish reading the novel?

    • CKtalon whoa, whoa, whoa, what? 80 chapters to completion? Since when? Cos last i checked, we were at 450/750, and you're telling me that the translators are already done up to 670 on the sly?
So why hasn't there been any uploads at all if they're working on it? Stocking it all up so they can stick all of it in privileged right off the bat?

      • CKtalon

Not a replacement for subs? In language and details maybe.

But if you read between the lines, it comes down to the same thing no? Pay us more, read more. The cheapskates can go fuck themselves.

I know right? I hope those guys that were supporting webnovel when it launched back then are loving this new system.
The same way they love the previous systems.
For us though, at this rate it probably won't be too long before they just flat out stop pretending and stick a "Please insert credit card details" ad on each chapter.

          • jcoth Can't be helped. It's not flashy, shounen, brain dead 1D harem, so guys don't like it. It's not super drama, super rich, super powerful Male Lead that is allowed to happily rape and abuse Female Lead as long as there is TRUE LOVE, so girls dont like it.

Put together, only people with "common sense" would enjoy this kind of slow growth, sweet romance would like this novel.

            Not many of those around.

            • Nighterfield If i wanted to read about a transmigration fantasy novel without cultivation, I'd go somewhere else. I won't and can't say that Lord of Mysteries is not good, but its a completely different genre from MAM. Even if there is some resemblance in style, there is basically zero romance in most of Cuttlefish's other works, including this one. Much less a good and sweet romance.

              • I've read a few chapters. Also i'm not the kind to sugarcoat things.

I won't comment on the plot and the ideas you are using because there's too few chapters for me to form an opinion on. That said, it feels like it would give the novel more substance if you expounded more on his real life circumstances, for instance: his family and his supposed lover. Too many times in novels i've read, the MC straightaway dives into the thick of things and the author leaves the family or other relationships as background noise. One example would be Legendary Guardian or even Shura's Wrath. That said, i'll also point out that there are some people who ONLY want to know about the online game and consider everything else to be filler. It's up to you which path you are going to take.

The mechanics in your game is somewhat far-fetched, but again, there are weirder mechanics in other game novels, so i'll just roll with it. It could be better if it were more consistent, but at least it's not Zhan Long level of stupid mechanics.

Lastly, the phrasing so far comes across as extremely awkward. This is mostly because you don't seem to know how to use past tenses and verbs. For example, i took one paragraph from a random chapter and this is what you get: "As his level of Carcass Processing is low, the panther pelt is of low quality ("tattered"), he only get several pieces of meat, and broke most of the teeth. He would gain more by asking someone more skilled doing the butchering, or dragging the corpse back to the village. However, darkness is approaching and he doesn't want to spend any more time outside the village's safety."

The first sentence is already wrong. This is a past event, so it should have been "WAS LOW".

                "He only GOT several pieces of meat";
                "He COULD'VE gained more"
"Dragging the corpse back to the village" - redundant sentence. If he's going to ask someone to butcher it for him, he would have already dragged it back to the village in the process.
                "Darkness WAS approaching"
                "DIDN'T want to spend".

There is a FUCK TON of this kind of mistakes that make the story's flow extremely choppy. That said, some people would even willingly read MTL, so i guess its not that big of an issue so long as they understand the gist of it.

Can we get some update on this? Are you guys even trying to find a new translator? because its been 6 months without a single peep from your side. You also mentioned that the inhouse translators will fix the updated chapters while we wait for the new translator, but i've read it all over again, and i KNOW all the same old mistakes are still there.

Let's be honest here, at least give us an update rather than leaving us blind and groping in the dark. If your degenerate bosses think that MAM isn't generating enough cash flow so its not worth finding a new translator then fine, just tell us so we can stop hoping, or make a pledge to pay up or something.

                • Max255 I thought i was the only one seeing things. My first thought was: "Really? They ditched the whole forum because everyone knew how shitty their business pratice is? Or because they finally realized western readers aren't as desperate as the chinese ones?" Wasn't until now that i realized i could still connect to the forum, but only via desktop site.

That aside, i also noticed that the new update on the mobile app removed the original tags for original novels, so they are all now completely mixed unless you remember them or separate them by filter.

Two very bad strikes for webnovel, but then again i doubt they care. the way they're going about things gives me the impression that they just want to squeeze all they can before running off.

                  • [unknown] i wouldnt mind joining tbh. How much does it cost for a translator though? Furthermore, jackass Qi still holding on tight, so they'll probably interfere no?

                    • Silangan this made me laugh. proofread? I doubt the guys in ffn.net even know what the word edit means. They're even more amateurish than the original authors here, and that's saying something.

As for ao3, the level of professionalism the is somewhat higher so yes, they do proofread, problem being 99% of content on that site tends to be erotica in one form or another.

Of course, this is just me talking about generalities, I don't deny there are some. Very good stuff there, works that are of even better quality than anything webnovel currently bad to offer. No Chinese stuff though, and it's all fandom based, so you'd be hardpressed to find good original novels.

                      • FilledWithHope amen brother.
Lord_HaarT it's not just the quality that is in question. A novel is not made purely out grammar, the setting, the characters, the descriptions, the style, the imagination and the skill are all part of a novel as well. And we haven't even considered the content.

most people only target grammar because it's the easiest to notice and the least subjective. That said, I can also tell you that 98% of the original novels here all fall short in every other category anyway. Then again, the same goes for most fanfictions. Being an author is not so easy that can you do it just because you have a good idea, a fabulous concept or an absolutely fresh mechanic to write about.

The easiest way to tell whether everything else is lacking however, is to ask yourself if you feel comfortable reading it, does it make sense? Or is the author not saying something very because it's a lampshade/plot device for the future?

In most cases so far, my answer would be a resounding "No".

                        P. S i also find it extremely pathetic that original authors all seem to need validation or dick / ego stroking before they get the motivation to write. If I ever had the chance,
would love to ask them this.

Holding chapters hostage is bad enough, but are you guys so lacking in self esteem and pride in your own works that you find it necessary to buy and sell votes and reviews?
