  • I remember reading a novel on here years ago which I'm pretty sure was named "The Devil's Path". Can't seem to find it though

Here's the synopsis, MC is reincarnated into what seems to be ancient china, his new body is frail and was planning to become a scholar, largely because he has failed to cultivate any martial techniques at all. MC happens to have brought a cheat widget he'd programmed for a game into this reality, it allows him to just tap a plus button next to a skill name and instantly upgrade his mastery to the next level. He finds there's two drawbacks added to it though. First, each time he uses it he consumes physical stamina and nutrition, so the first time he pumps himself up he's much stronger but thin as a starving man. It also doesn't let him upgrade past a certain point without a potent source of yin energy to consume, he later finds a girl's hairpin that belonged to a ghost which let's him take a single skill past grandmaster level.

MC ends up grabbing a bunch of martial techniques and bringing them to very high mastery, first one being "Black Tiger Saber" which is obviously a saber technique, another being "Jade Crane Technique" which increases his spiritual energy pool.

He soon finds there are ghosts around the land hidden from normal people and martial artists, even the weakest one is so tough that an expert martial artist is unable to injure it, so special cultivators are needed to take them down, but MC's high mastery in many techniques allows him to fight on equal footing with these ghosts. He also finds that he has zero aptitude for the special cultivation of these ghost hunters, one of them becomes interested in him and hands him a bunch of martial techniques to see how far he can take this.

At one point he's fighting several ghosts on a ship out on a lake, the ship catches fire and ends up burning all his hair off, he's otherwise uninjured but the strange effects of all the martial techniques prevent him from growing back any hair, so he ends up permanently bald.

I hope that's enough info of the novel to ring some bells for people, can anyone link the novel to me?

    • Hi, I can't seem to remember the name of a particular novel, the main character had a system that allowed him to grab items from across the multiverse at times, similarly to fishing the myriad heavens but without a fishing pole. I recall at one point he got a turtle shell with some writing on it that taught him some technique. At another point he got a cultivation technique from a sci-fi world, which comically started off with movements from radio calisthenics. If anyone could tell me the name of this novel, it'd be much appreciated.

      • Hi there, there's a certain fanfic of Danmachi that I recall reading, but can't remember the name of it and haven't been able to find from hours of searching.

Main character seems to be original, not another Bell clone. He was tall and muscular, enough to stand out in a crowd. He's so tall that when he enters the dungeon, goblins are a big problem, they end up only being able to attack his ankles and legs while He has to bend over to hit them. He ends up sleeping over at Hestia's church before the first time she meets Bell, when she sees he has morning wood she gives him a handy. Later, his only set of clothes gets stolen by some orphans, he ends up entering the dungeon while only wearing a towel around his waist. Loki's familia finds him like that and Tiona laughs her ass off. He also had a system, but I don't think it was an overpowered one.

If anyone knows the name of this fic, thank you very much.

      • The same happened to me with Alchemy Emperor of the Divine Dao a couple of months ago, its quite frustrating.

        • I'm getting a 404 error when I try to load any novel page, chapter, account details, and inkstone.

          • Yeah, same problem here, I log in using Facebook but a second later it tells me to enter my name to log in, no matter what I input it just says "Fail" in red and doesn't let me access anything.

            • Thanks a ton guys! I'll check those out.

              • Hi there, I've just recently gotten into the Chinese and Korean novels available on the wide web, I have a peculiar leaning towards enjoying stuff with game mechanics such as Shadow Hack, NEET with Dating System, Apocalypse Meltdown, etc. Basically if they can level up, gain skills, check stats and so on I'm instantly hooked, but I think I've gone through everything on Qidian which has such elements and would like recommendations for more.
