I think there should be ad options for premium chapters and that premium should be treated like a subscription service like how YouTube does YouTube Red. Premium readers wouldn't have to pay about a dollar for every 5 chapters in a novel that's over a 1000 chapters long. Personally I think Qidian is putting up many new novels so people who don't want to pay for premium chapters go read these new novels until they get enough daily spirit stones to read locked chapters so they can keep their current premium system. The current system is just greedy
