  • This is my personal project which I work on when work and my health permit, and it involves a Fantasy action adventure novel, with a romance sub-plot, a minimum of one illustration per chapter, and an audiobook podcast of the story.

Since I help run a online only mail order hobby & crafts business, my work has actually doubled since the covid-19 lockdown, so to de-stress I took the opportunity to edit all of my published chapters, including the introduction chapter, and have included new dialogue throughout. I caught up on my chapter illustrations too.

I also started an audiobook podcast version of my novel, which currently has 6 episodes, and covers the first 3 chapters, you can also find extras such as background information, like the history and layout of the 'The Sea Witch', and basic profiles of relevant characters in the verse as they appear.

Though I won't divulge spoilers for future sub-plots. you should be aware that all the characters in my story have their own backstories, and I have made a habit of leaving breadcrumbs of foreshadowing of these subplots even in the very first chapters. XD

I'm afraid I don't intend publishing a profile of the main Character, as there would be just too many spoilers for the main storyline, and I think part of the fun is the slow reveal, but if you read the full intro chapter then you should get a good overview of Lavender Jade, and where I intend to take the basic story.

Now I'll get on to the links to various parts of the project:

The Main Webnovel: The Sea Witch

Lavinia & Leonora's Past: Empire Mage Academy

    Podcast: The Sea Witch Audiobook

I'll expand the links later, but this is all I can do on this connection, so I'll have to edit this later.

    • Eslyna I managed to post the first chapter of my new story yesterday evening, and I uploaded the art cover for it this morning... I ended up swapping browsers.

      • yaoyueyi Just so you know I managed to upload my art cover this morning... I ended up swapping browsers

        • I want to take part in the writing prompt competition for 'Academy', but I have been plagued by problems!!

First, I haven't been able to upload the cover image I wanted using my own artwork, and I've had to make do with one created using the inkstone app.

Now I've just finished writing the first chapter, but when I tried to publish it using the phone app, it's asking me to input my email address.

I am not a new user, I'm not even a new author, and when I put in my email address obviously it tells me that's it's already in use!!

It says I need to verify my email address on my profile page, but I did that over a year ago, and I can't get it to send me another code, cause obviously I've already done it!!

Also, where has my novel link gone off my profile?! How are people going to know I really have a story published, when the link is gone... I have the badge, but no easy way for people to read my story from my profile, and I can't even find my own novel in the fantasy section, not even when I'd just updated it!!

I'm feeling rather stressed, the competition only has around 10 days left, and I can't even publish the 1500 words I have written so far. I spent all my free time yesterday and today writing, and drawing the artwork for the cover, and all my hard work seems to be in vain. 😭

          • I have been trying to upload my cover, it meets the 600x800 jpg less than 5Mb, however when I press the confirm button, it just doesn't do anything at all. I have absolutely no idea what is wrong.

I've created a temp cover using the cover creator app on inkstone, but I'd really like my own artwork.

            • I'm about to take part in one of the writing prompt competitions, and I wanted to upload one of my original artworks as my cover.

The image is 600x800px and less than 5Mb, however when I click the confirm button, it just doesn't do anything at all.

I have created a stock photo cover using the cover creation app on inkstone, it works fine as a placeholder, since I will probably be publishing the first chapter later today, but I'd really like to use my own artwork as the cover image.

              • I was also wondering this, is there a faq for original novels wanting to become paid in the future, and are there any restrictions on where we can post our free chapters?

                • SinB replied to this.

The above is a link to my original novel The Sea Witch, but I have a few questions for you folks...

I've just posted a new chapter, but I was away for a few months due to a unplanned hiatus, and I have no idea what's going on with the original novels section now, and I can't seem to find where my novel is listed as being updated.

What used to be the original section of the site/app, now appears to be listed as Fanfiction. Does that mean that all the original stories (not fanfic) have been moved? Is my story now in the main Fantasy section, with the rest of the translated stories?

On another note, I've just got a new phone, and now I can use the writing section of the app!! My previous phone's screen was too small and low rez, and I just couldn't use it to write before. What do you think of writing on your phone, is it for you?

Personally I love it, it's going to make things a lot easier for me, so hopefully next time work gets super busy, I'll still be able to write on my phone, and won't end up with a unplanned hiatus!!

                  • I am currently rereading cultivation chat group from the beginning, but when I got to ch383 I found it locked, which is strange as I have read and unlocked up to ch500 previously. I went to the contents list, and chapters 383 to 403 appear to be locked again, then the chapters continue to be unlocked until chapter 500 which was where I left off reading.

Is this a bug? Or do I really need to pay again to reread these chapters?

                    • I'd like to use one of my three daily power stones to vote for my own story, is this allowed? Will it count? I don't want to waste a vote of it's not worth it.

                      • ImAlsoBloo

Thank you for commenting... it's obvious when you say it, but it really didn't occur to me LOL

                        • I am the author of the original novel The Sea Witch, and ever since I started posting the Power Stone ranking keeps resetting. This has happened 4 or 5 times now, and sometimes the count shows as ' - ' for days at a time on my Inkstone dashboard.

I would really appreciate if you could fix this, as my current count is reading as 4 at the moment, yet if you click 'who's voted' I have a total of 20.

Below are links to my novel's main page, and it's 'who's voted' page...

                          • I'm very interested in this, as although I publish fan fiction occasionally on AO3, I have never seriously tried to publish any of my original fiction before, but this platform has peaked my interest. I do have some questions though:
                            1. I would like to use my own original artwork for the cover, is this okay, as I own the rights to the image? It is actually the one I'm currently using as my avatar, though I'd probably update it, as it is an older piece, and my art style has altered slightly since I went completely digital.
                            2. I'd like to publish 1 chapter a week (cause I'm still a worker), and I'd like to be a couple of chapters ahead writing wise, so what is the average chapter length currently on this site?
                            3. Is there a minimum number of chapters required for a story? I have one plot arc roughly planned out, but I've already built the world in my head, so it shouldn't be a problem to flesh things out if necessary.
                            4. I understand that if my story becomes popular I may receive monetary compensation, is there any problem with me living in the UK, as a previous e-publisher I was interested in, wouldn't pay writers outside of the United States.
                            5. Finally, I am planning a western style fantasy story, with a female protagonist, and there will be a romantic sub-plot with sex at some point, my characters also swear, and fight a lot... So although I will use the stories that I read here as a baseline, will I get feedback if I cross the line, as I would prefer to write freely, and tone it down if necessary.
