Honestly I would be lying if I said reading various novels hasn't effected me at all. They have given me some new ideas and have sometimes been extremely thought provoking. Although the novels are all fictional and have literally 0% chance of ever happening, the thoughts, morals, ideas and beliefs are still there.
Was curious whether anyone else here has felt this way, do post the idea and the novel you got it from. Thanks.
