      Other Info:

This is my first ever story that I'm writing properly (at least I'm trying to...). I'm exercising my English skills and trying to produce something that others would like to read without clawing their eyes out in frustration.

Oh, and while we're at it, might as well be shameless until the end - check out my second story!

Title: To Capture a Snake God

XueYa is a sorcerer, on his quest to reach immortality and become the greatest sorcerer who ever lived. To do that, he must retrieve the body of a blue-belly snake.

The two lives intertwine when XueYa steps into town and steals LiangLin's body away - literally.

On his journey to retrieve his body back from the sorcerer, She LiangLin will learn that, yes, even that one-eyed bastard of a sorcerer has a heart, no matter how small and ugly it might be!

And XueYa... well, it is up to debate if he learns anything, at all.

BL, so it is about a love/relationship between two men.
Disclaimer: the art cover is not mine. Credits go all to the creators.

      Other Info:

Updates: 2-4 per week, depending on how busy I am with other things.

A story that was created in the heat of the moment, fuelled entirely by the author’s attempt at being mildly funny. If you are interested to see what my brain can conjure up after 2 a.m. give this story a try. :D

    • I guess it can be a little disheartening. But there can be various reasons behind the drop. Some people add without reading even the synopsis. When they go back to the book to read it they realise its not their cup of tea. Some drop it when the storyline moves to things they are not comfortable with. Some don't like the first chapter. Some can't stand the writing style (too simple, too dry, too descriptive etc.)

I think the drop is especially high if you get featured and lots of people add without reading. Afterwards the drop occurs when people start deleting the novel from their library.

As a writer, you can't cater to everyone. Even the most successful authors have haters. Even the most hated books have loyal supporters. If it is a work of passion, keep at it and sooner or later your target audience will stumble upon your work and love it.

However, if you want to be popular, gain a large following, you will have to cater to the masses a little at least.

      TL;DR
It feels bad, but what can we do. Don't let it ruin your writing journey.

      I'm sorry, if I came of passive-aggressive, didn't really mean to diss/attack anyone or anything! (T ^ T)

I totally understand that when going premium, one has to reach a certain amount of chapters to enjoy the full benefits of the MGS. Fillers and all are all good as long as the pacing of the story is not drastically slowed down...

But if you aren't aiming to go premium and have a finished novel, just update with the 1-1.5k words/chapter. There shouldn't be a certain amount of chapters that one has to have.

      • The amount of chapters doesnt really matter, as long as the story is good and the pacing is not drawn out/slowed down drastically to fulfil a certain amount of chapters. :)

        • You mean the first page when you click into a novel? A small picture then a line of text before you read the first chapter?
That line is randomly chosen by the app. Only contracted authors can change it to their liking.

          • PJM_ replied to this.
          • I would like to add to all the comments provided above, that considering all/most novels here have a certain amount of free chapters available, those chapters are usually enough for the reader to decide to either stick around to support the story and the author or skip it. Unlocking chapters one by one also lets the reader decide if the rest of the locked chapters are worth your coins.

So if you unlock five chapters and you feel the novel quality goes down hill after the free chapters, you can save the rest of the coins and go read something else. If you buy an entire book and decide halfway through that it is terrible, you have lost the entire amount of money you have paid for it. So there is that too.

Just wanted to add my two cents. In the end, it is of course up to the reader how you want to spent your money. If you feel the quality and the content of webnovel is not worth it, there is no point to use your money here. :)

          • I often have this same problem too. Sometimes, I reach a point in my story where I just go blank. It's terrible. I usually work around it by turning to write something else. I am already updating two stories on this site, but I find that to help me get through the writers block with these two stories, is by writing a third one, but only for myself to read (for now).

Yes, sounds stupid, I know. Who writes a third story, when you already have two on-going ones and a writers block on top of it? The thing is, this third story is for me to release my emotions (mostly sad emotions). It's not well written, the scenes are all over, but it is something that kicks the creative juices going. It also gives the brain something else to think about for a second. Since only I read it, I feel much more freedom to just fill it with cliches, terrible grammar etc.

I also noticed that whenever I do something else, ideas will start to come in for the first stories. But yes, to get over the writers block, just write whatever. Try a diary, write down what you dreamt of last night. Quick bullet little things you want your stories to have and slowly work around those. Do you already know the ending to your story? Try working backwards. What happened right before the ending? What about before that?

Listen to music, choose songs with a beat or lyrics that makes your imagination run wild. Music works great for me.

Writing is work, and writers block is bound to kick in at some point, but you just have to keep writing. Even if the first draft is terrible, you can always edit and rewrite it.

I think there is a history already.
Go to Library, upper right corner, click the three dots, there is the history option available!

            • In the app, either library or feature page, top right corner, click on the gift box. It should be there! :)

            • Amethiest_101 iest_101#409614
First fill the contract on inkstone, then after that you can download the full contract to read through. If it is to your liking, sign it by hand and add the asked info. Then upload to complete the signment.

So even if you fill your info and print/download the contract, it is still not valid. You will have to sign it by hand too.

              • This feature is only available for premium/contracted(?) authors, from what I understood.

                • GegeSadewa
Apprently webnovel, or at least inkstone in under construction, so at least all contracts that are pending are on hold (according to what ive heard and read), im not sure if this has anything to do with it, but at the current moment, i agree is better to try and survive with fast passes 😕 i hope u get ur problem solved soon!

                  • GegeSadewa
Yeah, i've seen many complain about this same problem. Have you tried messaging the webnovel service?

                    • They have an expiry date, i think one pass has a week time to use it, before u lose it for good.
