  • While I'm honestly not surprised that it's gotten worse, this is ridiculous.

I come back after a break from this site and all of the spirit stones I collected from daily visits are now gone because apparently it wasn't enough to simply limit you to a few chapters a day. Now, it's literally impossible to read an entire story at a time without paying money, and a ridiculous amount at that. Still not gonna pay upwards of 60$ to read a half-quality translation, even if the story is legitimately good.

Making daily spirit stones expire is probably the most disgusting action I've seen thus far, considering you basically just spit on loyal readers for trying to enjoy your content.

    • I just don't read the majority of novels on this site anymore. I just read the originals and go to novelupdates for my translations. Also, as I stated earlier, premium is mobile app only.

      • Its because the good folks over at Qidian decided that people reading on PC didn't matter or exist, and decided to do an extreme push towards the mobile market by releasing a premium-account system but only for those who have the app.

      • There may be, but it isn't available for readers on a computer, and I don't enjoy reading on my outdated and half broken phone if that is where it can be found. My options through this are fairly limited and it seems like Qidian basically bailed on a huge portion of it's reading base in order to promote it's app and premium features.

      • It's honestly unfortunate because I would gladly pay 10-20$ a month if I could access all premium chapters, but instead, I'm forced to simply stop reading them.

This also hurts the people writing and editing these amazing stories, and it just hurts the overall earnings of the company. I really don't understand why companies sabotage their long-term popularity for short term profits, but hey. At least we still have Novelupdates.

        • I read a lot, and a lot of my reading has been done on Webnovel.com, but recently, I've had to change that. Why? Because it's become literally impossible to read featured due to the premium features on this site.

Many novels require as much as 20$ to read to completion, some of them as much as 30$, and not all of them good. Many novels have 90% of their chapters listed as premium, regardless of their quality and or quantity. It forced me to take a step back and stop spending money at all on this website. In an attempt to further monetize novels, it simply turned me away instead. Now I simply spend my days reading fanfictions or privately translated novels since web novel is far too expensive for any avid reader to enjoy.

I have suggestions and encourage anyone else to share their thoughts on the issue besides "simply spend the money, stop being poor" or "simply don't read them if you don't like it".

Perhaps the introduction of a premium expiration date? after a certain amount of time as premium, the chapter becomes free? Like an early-access payment instead of a requirement.
Since I'm no longer able to access such chapters through advertisements, reintroduce those?
Simply give us a way out without spending ridiculous amounts of money for something that we can get for free if we stick the source through a couple of translation sites.
