Python7648 And can you spare a fucking minute to check the rules of this place?
vicky_lory_4576 You can't. Just like with novels way in the ancient times, only WN itself can publish comics on the site.
Amitabha_Vardha If you allow a single fcker who can't be bothered to read the rules to break them, then this entire forum will turn into nothing but "PLEASE READ MY NOVEL IS BETTER THAN ANYTHING ELSE PLOX PLOX PLOX". Saw the forum when it was like that, so please don't try to undermine the authority of the people who set the rules here nor the people who remind others to FOLLOW THE FCKING RULES.
TravisBIW1 Yeah, fine print sucks. The thing is, the remaining time of the priv is written in the biggest letters you can find on the app. BIGGEST. So don't call it a fine print. YOu just ignored the warning that was fairly given.
Cindy_R_0700 Coins are used to buy (unlock) chapters. The amount any given chapter cost depends on its lenght. If you want to read more than fast passes allow, you need to buy the coins and use them to unlock the chapters. What's more, if you reach the priveleged chapters, you will need to buy the respective priv tier to read ahead of the normal release rate.
Demonic_Tendencies 1k views is less than nothing. Keep writing and you will get reviews/comments/votes organicaly.
jumoke_nusi No, they are not free. You are getting paid for using their services! What's more, its not 800$ after 12k words, but 800$ for every 1k words you write!
<See how ridiculous that sounds? Now try to reread what you wrote yourself>
Misguided_Rooster There is no way anyone would ever believe capitalism is good. After all, what about the poor people?
There is no way anyone would ever believe socialism is good. After all, who would work without incentives?
What you stated is just your belief. And that alone is okay. But what you did, is insult a lot of people and a lot of their hard work (and a lot of the laidback, trash-tier works as well). That's not okay.
In other words, you are the one in the wrong. Not because of the belief itself, but because you somehow reached a conclusion that your beliefs are superior to others.
If I recall, the last group that used this line of thinking was wiped out in '45
Shubhangi_Kene You speak about formatting as something necessary. Did you know that in writing, using CAPPED TEXT LIKE THIS ONE is already a HUGE mistake? If a novel does something like that, it proves the author doesn't know what they are doing. Its the same when it comes to using ! marks. If you don't use them sparingly, they lose their meaning.
If a novel is good, it won't need such features. There is more than enough basic formatting ("x" 'x' /x/ \x\ |x|) that you can use to present different forms of text. And if your novel needs formatting to be readable, then its not good in the first place.
Also, about contracts: its true that getting one DOES NOT mean its a good novel. I can sign this with both my hands, bot my legs ( and something else if I tried really hard). But the reversed version is actually true. If your novel CAN"T get contract, its either infringing on the WN baseline (smut in first 10 chapters, incest, underage sex) or is flat out bad.
Kloud_Paradizo Name of the novel?
PjBaek That means you just didn't find good novels. I read everything I could get my hands on from Peter V. Breet, Weeks Brent, through classics like Tolkien, Sapkowski, Gleen Cook, all the way to niche and avangarde like Lackey Mercedes and local authors like Ziemiański. And with all this expertise of years of reading I can tell that there are some good novels on WN. But if you look by the most voted, you are blindfolding yourself to anything that's not in lieu with the majority preferences.
You insulted quite a lot of people that make a living off writng and pour their heart and soul into it and then what? Basing it by your own opinion that a specific published would publish it? Heck, yeah? Just like there is no point sending comics to them either, if they only deal with written literature.
Webnovel is a medium of its own. Even amazon acknowledged it, trying to enter the market with their newly introduced Vella. Don't try to force the standards you believe in into a medium that never intended to abide by them. Just like novels from WN wouldn't do great in traditional publishing (for the most part), I find it hard to believe a single traditionally published novel would do well on Webnovel.
Because its not its medium. So please, stop insulting work of others only because you can't adjust to what's offered here. Right now you are like this Karen going to KFC and complaining she can't get BigMac.
Lixi_Lesic Eee? That's what the coins are for? You won't be able to unlock a chapter without fastpass/coins
2 things:
Contracted works have access to most basic features like bold, italic or underline you mentioned. Yet, no one gives them any mind. Why?
That connects to my second point. If you need graphic enchancments to make your novel appealing, there is something wrong with your writing in the first place.
Laiba_Azeem How much do you pay?
PATRICKtheMage Simple way out - don't bother with translations, look for original novels. While most of them is trash, there is a higher chance of finding something good there given how the originals are outside the webnovel planning.
melonbread They are no inflated. They are just counted in an a strange fasion.
Basically, if someone sees your cover, it counts as a read. If someone reads two chapters of yours, it counts as two reads. If someone glances over your synopsis, its a read. IF someone sees your title, its a read.
Now its not that hard to see where the views are coming from.
Ericphiri783 You don't. Coins are a paid currency.
And who will pay for those fastpasses? Who will reimburse the authors that will lose their income over it?
Webnovel already gives everyone 3 chapters of reading DAILY for free. I'm not even mad at this point as if you give someone a finger they will demand the entire hand. I just wonder what would happen if WN followed the historical examples and instead of giving the entire hand it used it to slap the entilted free-readers (not meaning you guys in particular, just pondering over the problem of the global scale)
In general, on webnovel any author earns from the percentage of what his/her novel brings to WN itself. In other words, if your novel is not earning, you won't earn.
But that's only the general gist of it.
In order for one's novel to earn, said novel needs to be contracted and premium locked (meaning, people need to pay to unlock the chapters, either with fastpassess or coins).
What do fast passess do? - Absolutely fcking nothing. It's just a way to make readers start reading premium novels and coax them into using real money to read afterwards.
What do free coins do? (By free, I mean any coins that were not paid for) just like fast passess, nothing
What do paid coins do - Whether they are used to gift the novel, to unlock premium locked chapters or to buy priv tiers, this is where the author's income is generated. We live here off the percentage of what we earn in this way.
But there comes MGS - minimal guarantee system. In other words, is a way for WN to support aspiring authors who are working hard enough to put the minimal required effort into their works. In other words, once your novel is contracted and its premium-locked, then starting from the first full month it will be within the MGS program.
That means, that as long as you publish (In SAID NOVEL) 1.5k+ words a day (words that goes into premium locked chapters) then even if your novel won't earn above 200$ (required to send the payment, WN doesn't send lesser amounts but wait for them to stack above the treshold) then MGS guarantees (as long as you fulfilled the criteria of non-stop 1.5k words+/day) you will still recieve 200$ from it (only for the first four months thought).
In other words, if you miss a day, then byebye money.
Obviously, if your novel will earn above 200$ by itself, then MGS doesn't add up to what it earned but simply dissapears (for said month. If you earned 210$/190/190/280$ for the first four full months for example, you would recieve 21/200/200/280 (-taxes and transfer fees))
I don't know, I don't use other pages. Amazon? Kindle? Good luck trying to break through the concrete roof there though
Because they like writing?
Write more and hope for the best. Writing isn't something that one gets good at overnight. Especially not on webnovel, where one needs to learn what people like and what they do not.
