  • I'm unsure of who decided to use the term "Magical Realism" as a tag for novels set in the modern world, however it is inaccurate.

If you were to google the definition of "Magical Realism" you would get "another term for magic realism" which means "a literary or artistic genre in which realistic narrative and naturalistic technique are combined with surreal elements of dream or fantasy." Magical realism is something that exists within the literary world, however currently magic realism is used for novels that have fantasy elements inside of a world extremely similar to ours on the surface.

This kind of fits if there weren't existing definition (a real-like world with magic-like things) however even then it would be hard to understand at a glance without a definition or examples. Magical Realism should be changed to something referencing "Earth", "Modern Day/World", etc.

At the worst, if the tag was kept, a description should be added in an obvious place so people can understand what the tag means.
