Hi shllove . Yes only webnovel.
Before the screenshots:
Fresh restart, only Firefox running and activiity monitor.
Tracking protection disabled, Ghostery disabled, AdBlockPlus disabled.
After a minute or two, the fan starts running.
See link for screenshots.Using MBP 10.13.3 (17D47)
I should also note that browsing the forum (here) does not result into high CPU usage.Has anyone tried a MacBook Pro (10.13.2) with Firefox?
GoGo Well, yes @WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL is the "cause" since thats the only website that is open.
Further investigation:
High CPU is only when tab is front. its significantly less when in background.
CPU impact is Firefox > Safari > Chrome.
There is a difference when I enable "Tracking protection" in firefox. Is is trying to keep loading blocked elements?
MacOS (OSX) is more sensitive than windows 10 for some reason. MacOS is my macbook pro vs Win10 Desktop.- Edited
According to Safari profiling (tried another browser to be sure) osd.js is firing timers like mad.
Another one is raven.62118.js.
Kind of wondering why a page withe text needs sooo much cpu time (even 4%?)
BTW: The page i'm opening is https://www.webnovel.com/book/7143532406000605/22693016544267506/I-have-a-Mansion-in-the-Post-apocalyptic-World/Taking-Over-the-Fallout-Shelter
But seems to this for all pages (after the ads)- Edited
The only site open is webnovel.com. Using Firefox 58.0.1 Ghostery/Adblock disabled.
Looks like I'm not the only one:
Hi, just recently i've noticed a high CPU usage on the site when reading a novel.
One of my cores on my laptop is pegged to 100% pointing to FireFoxCP Web Content.
The inspector / performance indicator is littered with "recalculate style" for some reason.
(Wasn't before).
I assume / hope there is no CoinHive miner running in the background?
